Hello everyone, just want to ask does anyone else feel like history strongest is underated?

People know about it, but a lot of people I know get bad impression of the series by watching the anime first. I feel that the anime made it a lot more kid friendly (though it is a shounen) or childish I guess you could say.

For people who are caught up, what do you think of the series overall? Also, how do you feel about the current arc? ( it's going suuuuuppper slow in my opinion)

Thanks!

Last few months the mangaka has been juggling 4-5 fight scenes and you think its slow?

They did make the original anime for children and anything passed that arc wasn't for children. Its on par with HxH and Kenshin, as far as being in need of a true to story remake imo. One of the better martial arts manga's. Barely dressed girls and people trying to kill each other it has all sorts of win~

I've been reading "History's strongest disciple" since chapter one & although it had a great start, the recent chapters have been lacking.

Ever since the kidnapping arc, it's sorta gone down hill. =/

Lately there's been more butt and boobs then plot and fighting. Don't get me wrong, there IS fighting but it feels like its all an excuse to show Miu's ass in 40 different ways & make someones eyes glow.

With that being said, I don't think its underrated. I think the perception some people have of it is just about right. That's just my opinion though..& despite all that I'm still gonna continue reading it.

This arc is still building up ever since they got back to japan. Nothing has really happened yet, and where he is going with the Tanaka side plot is beyond me...

and yea it does seem like he finds any reason to strip miu which i find hilarious in its own way~ dont care much for animated drawing tho~

I was disappointed in the anime, it seemed to just glean over the training aspects at the start that is one of the reasons I really liked the early chapters. The current arc I think is ok, I don't like how depowered mui seems to be now she can't fight without ending up half-naked in some compromising position. I don't mind ecchi, like the renka and Rachel fight, since it's suppose to be comedic, but even Freya ends up just being a pin up. I liked it better when the girls were actual fighters along with good looking.

Its the typical first fight in a shonen arc everyone gets embarrassed and is crapped on... powerful motivation is gained queue 80s workout montage more plot build up then they win with grace or something, yea~

I have never heard of Kenichi until I found it in Netflix, then I tried finding the manga. From that transition i noticed the stripping is happening more. What makes it worth my time is the development of Kenichi and the background on his masters. The History of the martial arts also drags me in more as it, for me, shows what kind of the person the characters especially those fight scenes. As of now it does seem slow, but I dont mind because what we are seeing is Tanaka , who happens to look and feel like Clark Kent[ Superman], at a crossroads of his life.
Though in some ways it is targeted at them youngins I still dont mind as I just laugh it off after a while reading into it. Hopefully Ken chan has some sense and use the cell to call home get all his masters to the park to speed it up a bit at least.

It has been about three (3) years since I have read History's Strongest Disciple . Did the author decide to continue the manga? I realize from the comments above that yes the answer might obviously be "yes he did", but I would still like to know.

Yea, its still going..

The nudity is just there cus it captures more of an audience I always thought kenichi was like a lot of the older martial arts movies and its why i like it. And I dont want to go in to detail with plot but im guessing Tanaka wont be around much longer..dont think fist is gonna go down to some side plot char~

Yeah it's definitely underrated. I only read 4 manga on a weekly basis and Kenichi is one of them. Honestly the anime was decent, it just ended before the story(and fights) got REALLY good. It got a better anime treatment than Negima ever did considering it became a fantastic action manga, but all the anime adaptions(and games) insisted on focusing on the harem only. I like it for the same reason I liked Eyeshield 21, it is far more grounded in reality than say Naruto or DBZ, but it adds stylish drawing effects to make the moves seem flashier than they are.

While I'd like to see the anime continue, I'd prefer a really good fighting game of it.

It was good when it started, but there no excitement now. No anticipation for the next chapter. The story there and there are lots of action, but I feel it missing something. I still keep up with the manga, but I just read it because it there.

I actually really do like this series

I will admit I do not like the amount of fan service that it has currently because that seems to have been growing, there was a time when the most fan service was Miu in a bikini or Shigere in a loin cloth. Now every time a female character gets into a fight her cloths come flying off in one way or another. This new approach does admit ably lead to some funny moments, but it's still too much too often in my opinion.

I do really wish that the anime would continue, I liked the anime even though it did leave out a few chapters which were usually really funny, like when Kenichi thinks that he's grown much stronger than he has and ends up "fighting" all the masters but the Elder, or when Kenichi's father visits the dojo and brings his new hunting riffle "just in case."

And while admit ably the current story has been dragging a lot recently, I do really like the characters, and I think that's enough to keep me interested for awhile. I wish they would bring this series to the USA in manga form, it would probably become another series I would collect

So.. Very.. Overrated...

One of the more worse shounen out there (I had a hard time wording this.. but just saying its not bad nor is it good, and its definitely not a top shounen). IF it didnt go for as long as its currently going then MAYBE it wouldn't be that bad, but the story isn't one that can go for this long without just getting stale imo. It's just the same old story rehashed just about a million times.. I forget where I stopped, but there had been little to no character development at that point, and ecchi gets old, fast. The strength of the characters is just too crazy at times as-well.. Gets on my nerves >_>

I admit I will go back and finish it, and I admit that I stopped reading like 2 years ago.. But I doubt it's changed that much.
