I finished Season 1 and when I started season 2 I felt like I missed a couple episodes. Were there some OVA's released after season 1 that continue the story or am I just crazy?

Yes there were 4 OVAs that followed the "True Route" and are not available on CR. Season 2 picks up after the OVAs, not after the Season 1 ending that is on CR.

You might want to see the first few posts in the discussion thread, as this comes up there.

The first series was provided to CR as a library title by a U.S. video distributor, so the rights they were able to extend to CR are, like other library titles obtained this way, only for the United States and Canada.

whats the point of paying for this service if i don't get the full benefits you would think crunchyroll would decrease the price for Australians , i think its ridiculous that i can watch season 2 but not season 1.....

Sigh.

In spring 2009, CR had only a fraction of the anime they do now, but yet we all still pay the same price. According to your logic, they should be charging us more (a lot more).

If it were simply a matter CR of paying x cents per stream, then yes, they could charge less; but it is not. There are a lot of costs that aren't that flexible, and when you spread those out over the far larger U.S./Canada region licensing block, it leaves a lot more money for the minor cost per stream. (Not to mention that most people can only watch a certain number of hours per month).

If the grass looks greener on our side of the fence, it is because more rain (subscription dollars) fall on it. According to third party metrics, the U.S. and Canada account for a bit over half of all CR website traffic, and the next country up (the UK) barely broke out the single digit percentages. There are some indications that paid subscriptions even more heavily favor the U.S. and Canada, with it garnering perhaps close to 70% of those.

It also doesn't help that U.S. video distributors provide CR with most of those library titles like Oreimo. Why not ask Madman there in Australia why they don't do the same? (Madman has the rights to the series in Australia, so CR cannot stream it without their license).
