I guess this goes by how wildly imbalanced the male:female interest ratio is in the user rankings.

If Madoka means Puella Magi Madoka Magica, that's surprising.

Gintama as well.

K would've done better if the story had stood out.

And Durarara!! I can understand, but it still makes me a little sad inside. It's a good story all around.

Well, I suppose I'll have to organise a sex change then? Gintama and Nichibros in particular (courtesy of Shinji Takamatsu I'm obligated to mention) are two of my absolute favourite anime. As I see it all the interesting anime are targeted towards women. Men get all the bland recycled stuff.

Obligatory meme. You're welcome.

I'm glad Chihayafuru has a wide enough audience to dodge both these lists.

Or not enough audience to get into these lists.

So some of my favorite shows are in the top aimed at women... While the top aimed at men are mostly harem shit. Oh Japan.

Sword Art Online is the only one on that male list I can relate to... If this blog was created recently, its missing a lot of titles...

I'm guessing when they say "male" they are referring to the average Japanese fanboy otaku only cause I honestly can't see that list for the average joe male anime viewer.

Yeah I agree, don't think I've watched any of the shows listed on the men's list excluding SAO (I have watched that). May of watched a few episodes here and there but nothing worth putting into a top 10 list.

I agree with Idolmaster and Strike Witches. For one reason or another though, guys seem to like the loli genre.

To Love Ru? I did not really find it enjoyable, not even with the characters.

Durarara and Sword Art Online are probably the only anime I could watch out of that whole bunch and enjoy.

If you look at it from a marketing perspective though, big boobs, showing women underwear, and brief nudity seem to sell big in Japan. Just like that, it sells. Story seems to be of little interest to the writers and artists when they do these types of anime, so they just slap boobs in there in hopes it gets bought. For some reason you will see some random box full of girl's panties at a booth at some Anime Convention, because supposedly it sells pretty well, even if it is mixed at a booth that sells only DVDs or CDs of regular anime.

That list is probably the norm for Japanese male and female viewers, but it is tough for it to go toward male and female American viewers.
