How the hell does SAO appeal to men? I mean, I know Asuna is the "ideal" woman and basically what a woman was in America during the 1950's. Cooking, cleaning, and not having anything interesting to say, but the whole prospect of Boy saves girl from evil bad guy is exactly what Twilight is and why it's more palpable to the female demographic.

I'm guessing a lot of guys want to see themselves as Kirito

because sao is a mmo and many guys play mmos...

But the focus of the show wasn't deeply implanted in the MMO aspect, it was more of a setting rather than a parallel tone to the actual story. He could have easily just set it in a real mythological zelda-esque setting and the story would have been as accurate. Just like how Twilight is about a love story that had nothing to do with vampires, SAO is focused on a love story that had nothing to do with Virtual reality. The themes, the psychology, it's not very fleshed out, it's more of an excuse to create the dilemma rather than establish it as a relevant setting.

I beg to differ.

Just the one, but still. There is one.

lol, I saw this topic and I was like, "What the heck, I already made this topic >:o" but then I saw he made it 5 days before I did.

It was only my second topic. Now 50% of my topics are complete wastes ;_;

nakanaide...

This list shows a clue what really is popular over in Japan and what sells there .So if we have the same poll among western viewers or here in Cruchyroll , I bet the result will be different

There a re a lot of titles in the Women side that doesnt make sence becuase I know a lot of guys like them like Durarara, Gintama.I would say its pretty even with those titles.

And in the men's list I liked Oreimo,SAO,Haganai and HEntai Ouji and Madoka, these are well written.

Its not a trap of sort

Perhaps we should make a poll, and see how it compares?

Kirito's life in SAO is the expression of a male power fantasy. Although he suffers some setbacks Kirito becomes mighty and is unstoppable in battle, and several attractive women fall for him. Obviously this will appeal to men!

I still enjoyed it though, at least until the show began indulging incest fetishists.

I'm a bit surprised that Gintama is aimed for women. I thought it was more for just both in general.
