The Xbox One has been recently announced. You can find more information about it on Youtube, and the official Xbox website. http://youtu.be/uP4E3xNU9pU

I do like the square design of it, and it does seem to match the PS4's features. It will now be able to play blu-ray discs, and you will also be able to record and share your gameplay footage from your games. Both has 8GB of memory, and have similar processing cores.

The battery is inside of the controller and has "impulse triggers" and the new console requires the new Kinect which is now 1080p. The new Kinect has better tracking ability. Also as far as social services goes, it seems like they will be using Skype as their messenger.

As far as games go, they have 15 launch titles, but not many games were showcased in the announcement reveal. It seems that they will be waiting for E3 to reveal more of their game library.

The cons about the new console though is that it is not backwards compatible and no future plans to bring the old games to the next-gen console. Another con is that there seems to be a tax on purchasing and playing pre-owned games.

I'm not going to like the non-backwards compatibility option. Also, I think them making a whole new server is going to hurt Microsoft tremendously. I think I'll wait till I hear reviews on it before actually purchasing the console. I must agree with you, I do indeed like the design. I just hope the games are ridiculously priced, you know?

I don't see the point in integrating everything. I like my things to be separate, as more screens means more space. voice aspects are cool but other than that I wasn't really wowed. There is no backwards compatibility and IGN posted that they will be fining for used games, which is so not cool. PS4 and Xbox one have just shown me let downs so far.

I know this may be a bit hubris of me

BUT

Any self-respecting gamer should have been insulted after watching that conference. The only way Microsoft could have emphasized more clearly that this next xbox isn't really about games is if they held up a sign that said "%^&% YOU GAMERS!"

And don't hold your breath on the "15 exclusives." The fact that they didn't even give us a little snippet of what they were is a red flag. Companies love to use words that make them seem like they are going to offer you all kinds of things, especially when they don't even bother to show you them. I'm not saying they are technically lying about not having "15 exclusives," but I would definitely bet money that they are not going to be what many expect.

Those 15 exclusive reveals are set for E3, the smart way to do it. That reveal was to unveil the hardware, talk about the future and the direction they are going in.

I did not see if microsoft will continue the policy of region locking their console unlike sony. Sony's no region lock allows me to enjoy Japanese games and was a huge factor in my purchase decision.

But we still don't know whether the PS4 will be region locked or not.
If it isn't region locked I will be getting an Xbox One for the social aspects and a PS4 for its range of games including its Japanese titles. ^^

There are some major cons that I really don't like about the new console:

- requires kinect
- always online
- tax on pre owned games
- no backwards compatibility

All of these cons are a deal breaker to me.

Well it all depends on what you think makes the better console. Gaming? or social? If its gaming then it will be the ps4. Both the one and ps4 are using the CPU, the one has the slight less powerful GPU and ram than th ps4. So the ps4 is just a tiny bit more powerful. But it will all come down to how or who the devs choose to code the games for first and then port over. As sony learnt from the ps3, the ps3 will be a lot easier to code, well dare i say, just like the one.

With the fee on used games, i would say i agree with MS there. Well when i say i agree with them, it all comes down to if the devs of the used game gets the fee. As its away for them to to claw back some money they spent on "z", just like how they would if you brought "z" game new. But if MS pockets it their self, i will agree its wrong. But i think thats something we wont find out.

As for it not playing old 360 games, sony have done the same thing with the ps4. I put sony down for that, because there lazy. Take the ps3 with ps2 games.

Well roll on E3 so we can see its full gaming side, as i know loads out there was disappoint by the lack on show. But maybe they should of show cased all the games they have lined up to show at the E3 yesterday and shown all its tv tec at the E3 instead. That would of been good to see

hmm well the most important thing to me is the how good ps4 will be online the xbox 360 has been better for that this generation but i only play street fighter on it while on ps3 i play all sorts of games so hoping ps4 will be amazing online so i can stick to one console dont like microsoft anyways especially that u have to pay for online

Not all that interested in it after the reveal but maybe they'll surprise me with some good new IP's at E3. I want games and a gaming machine and so far it seems like MS are aiming more for a cable box that plays games. I hope I'm wrong and that they surprise me at E3. If not then I will just stick with the WiiU and PS4 until the X1 gets a big price drop.

looks like MS have sort of answered why the one needs to be connected once a day, to the internet. The cloud system isn't anything new tec wise, as there is or was a pc system doing this a few years back. If MS can get there servers right, so their cloud can handle all the traffic it will help with it's performance. it's going to be very interesting to see who has the better cloud servers tho, MS or Sony. yet Sony hasn't said much about theirs yet
