Eh, I could take Pocky or leave it, but I thought it was hilarious when individuals would sell it at cons for extremely overinflated prices... $30/small box? Wow... and people used to buy it for that...

Of course, these days tons of stores in the US carry it as well, so I sure hope that tradition has died.

I wish pocky was as good as people think it is, I tried the chocolate covered one and I wasn't too fond of it. If only I could find the other flavors here in the states to try them.

Both are just over-priced chocolate biscuits in stick form. Nothing to write home about, one or two is nice and then they start getting sickly, like churros.

Mikado is Pocky renamed and manufactured in Europe and the recipe is changed slightly to suit the different market tastes. It's easier to find and usually cheaper, with less flavour varieties.

My friend is obsessed though, she goes into Asian supermarkets and buys boxes and boxes of Pocky.

Agreed, for the most part, although some of the more unusual flavours can be pretty interesting just because you're unlikely to get them in any other type of snack.

My cousin got married last year, and he and his wife are both fans of Japanese stuff. At the wedding, there was a snack table with loads of different flavours of Pocky... so I took advantage of the opportunity to try out things I usually wouldn't, and ended up as a big fan of green tea flavour.

Apparently my local supermarket now carries almond Pocky. I still haven't had the chance to buy any, since I've been too busy buying out their normal stock.
