With Spring in full swing, have you all picked out names for your new pet spiders? Mine has a nice collection of corpses under its web at the window, but I'm not sure of a good name for it, yet.

I don't know, I just can't bring myself to cast out poor strays like that.

DON'T! Leave your spider in your room. I've been leaving my window open for 3 days now, hoping a bunch of spiders will come in. During summer flies, bed bugs, mosquitoes, all find a way into our home. I want spiders in my room so they'll eat them all before they eat me. Ugh, I hate bug bites. Atleast spiders leave me alone.

And I don't want anyone quoting me saying, "Oh but did you know an average person eats about 4 spiders in their sleep?". Don't care. As long as I'm not aware, and as long as they don't bite me, but get rid of the insects who do suck my blood. I do not care.

LONG LIVE SPIDERS!

Yay

^ Now those are the kind you can eat. I hear they taste like lobster!

I love spiders. I get entirely pissed off at people near me who immediately kill them just because they're there. How mindlessly wasteful and reactionary.

When I lived in Florence (MS), Common House Spiders used to pop up in very inconvenient spots, like a corner on the kitchen counter and floor, and the window panes. Dust and dog hair was a problem, so we'd always end up destroying their webs during during cleaning. The spiders weren't particularly an issue until the last two years we lived in Florence, when we had a virtual epidemic of baby spiders. We were also getting the house ready to be put on the market, so we couldn't let them be. I have always liked Barn Funnel Weavers and I'm more than willing to pick them up bare-handed, but I take them outside whenever I see them. It gives me an excuse to touch them, and I know that most of them are still running around the house. When we moved into our new (but old) house, it was infested with Cellar Spiders. That isn't a surprise. since the house was on the market and uninhabited for 2 years; however, we were basically overrun with them, so we did several sweeps throughout the house to drastically cut down the population. At it's worst, the basement (which is being used as the master bedroom), had over 40 spiders. Cellar Spiders aren't very inconspicuous, so it's impossible to overlook that many.
I will kill any Black Widows or Brown Recluses that I come across in or near the house.

Never have liked spiders. I wouldn't say that i am scared of them, but I certainly wouldn't want one as a pet.

Rightfully so. Those f*%kers will kill you. My stepmother was bit by a brown recluse and man did that infection and rash look nasty. Plus she was on super antibiotics for weeks.

Spiders are cool. I usually let them stay where they are unless it's a black widow. I kill those.

My dog will kill any spider she sees, though. And then she will eat it.

All of my 'pet' spiders have been mysteriously murdered.

If I see them, they're dead. I'm allergic to spider bites, and so are other family members. The bites swell up to the size of softballs (2 depending on the bite site) and look like a giant bruise/welt, hurt, and burn hot. I got bit in the eyelid once....looked like I'd been in one hell of a fight. I couldn't open my eye to see because of the swelling.

I think I'm going to name this tiny little guy in the corner of my bathroom Sheldon. He has a nice collection of fruit flies and ants. My bathroom isn't full of crumbs, but we do have food sometimes thrown away in the trash can in there. When you live in a basement, ANY bug can find it's way down here.

I kept a tarantula in a fishbowl for a while, and he was a friendly little guy who didn't mind much being held. But wild spiders that come in my house must die. If they stay outside they're okay.
