Ah, but people usually complain about movies that were based on books. It's either they cut too much or added too much. What do you think?

I agree or they change stuff so much it is no longer like the book.

True. But comparing the movie to the book is somewhat unfair to the scriptwriter, no? Yes, the book was lovely, but the movie has its own charms.

If the movie is not like the book. I think that is unfair to the books author.
If they want to change stuff so much that it is unlike the book, they should come up with something unique themself which has noting to do with the book..

Interesting. That is true but the author signed a contract with the producer. He/she handed the rights to his/her story. The producer could change the story to his/her wishes, no? Well, I'm not taking any sides so let's not take this matter any further. Have you read "The Winner Stands Alone" by Paolo Coelho?

I have not read any of his books yet and what you say is true. however most readers like when the movies writer stays true to the book.

Read the Alchemist quite a few years ago. Think it's ... too difficult a book to make into a movie. Everyone's interpretation is different on it.

Edit: It's late ... I think I was hallucinating someone mentioning the Alchemist...

Don't worry, you weren't hallucinating xD If they ever make a movie of The Alchemist I hope it would be something like the movie interpretation of The Life of Pi.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe they should use the director and script writer from the life of Pi for it.

Yea, I think that would work. Though the CG was ridiculously expensive in that wasn't it?

I think so, too. The movie was beautiful. I have yet to read the book though.

Yes, but I think it was worth the costs. It was wonderful.
