My time is limited with anime due to kids, work, & school, so I have to be more picky than I would like. Usual boils down to:
-I check out the reviews or see what the cons are talking about.
-Short series, less than 26 episodes.
-Action, Comedy, Interesting, or all 3 :)
-Avab for streaming on my phone (reason for joining CR, Netflix kept taking away anime titles)
-I usually watch the first 3 episodes and see if it grabs me.

If its availability is limited, I'll make sure I can finish it before it's gone (assuming it's at least decent). When there's nothing with a time limit that I have to watch (read: most of the time), I usually browse around and see what grabs me. I'll typically look at a review or two before jumping into a series, but no more than that.

I do watch anime that I've heard a lot about. I picked up Attack on Titan because my friends were always talking about it, for example, and watched Toradora! because I hear about it so often on these forums. That said, I'm also perfectly content with giving the ol' anime list a run-over and checking out titles that just straight-up catch my interest. That's how I've stumbled upon great, but under-hyped anime like Gosick and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou.

I am capable of dropping a series if I'm just not getting any enjoyment out of it, but that's pretty rare for me. Even if there's a couple little annoying aspects to a series, I can deal with them if it's otherwise still good, and since finding a genuinely bad anime is actually pretty difficult (in my experience anyway), I'm usually content with what I watch. I have a talent for finding titles that I'll like, and it's been a long time since I outright dropped something.

Episode 1.

If it's not unique or attracts me in some way from the beginning, I won't even bother watching the rest.

Usually word of mouth or highly recommended ones! I wouldn't watch much if people didn't tell me about them

For me (Since I chose the last option) it would have to be a matter of 2 things: 1)If the art style appeals to me (I may have to reconsider that in the future) and 2) If I like the summary. Also there is a 3rd option: I see a clip of the opening and if it appeals to me, I'll go watch it.

I kinda just rummage through a pile in my head and pick what seems most interesting...

Animation quality also sometimes influences it.

I just try and watch every anime I come across... If I don't like it then I won't watch the rest of it but, I haven't found an anime I don't like yet.

Let's see - there are many factors for me here.

    1. Reviews (primarily MAL)
    2. Summary/Story (I love watching plots that I haven't 'seen' before)
    3. Genre (I have some specific I prefer, but not afraid to try new ones)
    4. Amount of Episodes, and whether or not it's finished airing.
    5. Animation

It's not like each and every point here is what decides whether or not I watch something but I do read/look through it all.

You might consider me a strict person when choosing anime, but that's just the way I do it and that's why I've never dropped a show nor regret watching something. I also feel that my time is some what limited as I do a lot of traveling due to work, and weekends is the only time when I can really get into watching something.

I don't have any specific interest, and everybody wants a good plot but i normally go off of visuals, good artwork normally lead to good work to me.

From pictures in tumblr and asking those who have watched it if they recommend me this or that anime : )

I useally am really picky but it depends on the advertising first episode and personal preference.
