HOLY. COW.

You guys, Free! was like...really dang good this week. I was hugely impressed. No joke blog posts about Gou from me this week. This show earned a true aniblogger analysis from me.

Plus I talked with someone on Twitter for like an hour about the episode, too. Totally blindsided. Never expected Free! to show up with quality like this (not an attack on the rest of the show, mind you).

Wow, just wow... goodbye comedy, hello major heart wrenching drama! That last episode took quite a turn and I'm still in shock. I don't think the next episode will make it any better, it could potentially put me into further shock. Oh Haru (and Makoto, and Sousuke, and Rin)!

I've been enjoying the second season right from the start and it has not disappointed!

Wow, what an incredible episode this was, easily the best of the season and one of the best of the two seasons combined - if not the best overall. Haru's dream was super intense, and seeing him breakdown in the locker rooms was hard to watch, especially after the infinitely harder to watch breakdown in the swimming pool. It's sad that the guy doesn't have any dreams and seems to think he doesn't even have a future. He's seriously lost right now - somewhat like Rin in season one.

I can't wait to see where Haru's story is going. I can't imagine what the final endgame point will be for him, it feels like the viewer is as lost as he is.

H-hello.

I like yaoi, yuri, AND hetero though I don't create yaoi pairing from this anime.

Thats what I really hate about Haru's character. Rin has a goal while Haru doesnt and in reality , he is afraid to be alone or go where he will be alone. what a waste of talent.

Well, Haru told Rin that he doesn't care about being competitive and he does't swim for nobody else except for him and his friends. There is nothing wrong with it, he enjoys his talent for himself so I don't see it as a waste. Rin has a goal in swimming while Haru doesn't...and he hasn't even figure out what he's gonna do after school...it takes time. Give the boy a break this is like parents pressuring their kids to be something just because they're good at it but what they really want is just to let them alone.

I also hate it when you ask someone if they are ok and they answer yes when they are not ...well this is very much an annoying Asian trait. I only learned say " No I am not" only in my adulthood becuase nobody taught me that it is ok to say you are not.

I think that's a human trait, many people tend to say they're ok while in reality they're feeling like crap. I agree that it will do more harm than good but I think Sou wanted to live his dream for a little while and not distract Rin from his goals.

Yes, Haru is lost right now...he doesn't know where to go or what to do so he enjoys the moment with his friends doing what he likes. That only makes him more real to me. He will find a way where he can feel complete, eventually!

well I can say the writting is well done in this episode becuase it is affecting me emotionally

becuase I am of age where now I look back and I would ask myself , have I done that really makes me happy. Regretting that I havent done this or that. And Now that I am older, I cant do those things anymore.

Hopefully I will get over with my disappointment with the 2 boys

okay after that dream sequence i knew he was going to do something crazy in the race... and it made me all the more nervous for it T_T just the tense emotions, the way they showed him being "dragged down" in a physical sense though it was actually metaphorical... for all its fanservice and baiting, this show really does a great job with character development.

still wasn't expecting him to yell like that though. Not that I'm shocked by it -- the entire episode was mostly building up for him to lose his cool. I feel sorry for Rin but he needs to understand that Haru does not have the same goals (if any) as he has.

I'm a little late to this because I've been busy doing homework and classes and stuff. I'm actually typing this up during bio, lol..

This episode was amazing for Haru. This season has kind of thrown him into the background til now and they just. Wow. KyoAni did amazing this episode. I loved the dream sequence, I loved seeing Haru get emotional and I loved seeing him snap at Rin for being so pushy about his dreams. Rin needs to stop being selfish and recognize that his friend is different than him.

We got Makoto and Rin interaction this week, which was a nice minute before it was interrupted, but eh. Take what you get. It was nice of Rin to encourage Makoto too. It actually shows that Rin has friends other than Haru and Sousuke (imo) Actually this season has done good with expanding Rin's relationships. Last season it was all Haru, but now he has Sousuke, Nitori, and Momo. It's nice to see.

Sousuke at the end though. My heart sunk. I really feel for the guy. ;-;

Anyway, this was a great episode, and probably the most well executed episode ever in this season. I can't wait to see the next episode.
