This show is so tongue-in-cheek that I cannot help but enjoy it. (The wife thought it was a blast, too.)

But the really fun part will be everything the fandom produces for it (see several of the pics 'n' such in this thread).

Its actually pretty good.

It feel like I was watching Kimi to Boku and K-On at the same time lol

But I was really cracking up at all the animation of some body parts

and I would like to see real dudes to cosplay these guys lol..... in the summer .... i am not sexy enough

It did kind of remind me of Kimi to Boku. I haven't seen K-On though. After just one episode, it seems okay--but just okay. I can see it getting better though, and I'm looking forward to the next episode.

i was pretty much screaming and screeching throughout the whole episode, so much fanservice that i don't mind. I actually think it was pretty decent, gives me the usual high school vibe setting
looking forward to watch every week and see how it goes

This "guide" seems like it was copy-n-pasted from a message board set-up in 2001. I mean, I don't really care, especially about this show, but, this just looks like a solution looking for a problem. It seems absurd that a video streaming site is suddenly worried about accommodating people with limited bandwidth. If someone can't handle more than two screen-shots, then chances are they're not streaming your 1080p, are they? Or even your SD. So why worry about it, and just let people have fun.

She's a new mod in training so she's looking for things to ding up with her new mod beat-stick. Nothing unexpected really, being a forum-goer for years I've seen it happen so many times. Not much we can really do but wait it out until she grows her mod legs.

Okay. So this show.

It's really gay, let's just get this out of the way. This isn't a bad thing at all, as there's an unhealthy lack of fan service for the opposite gender in comparison to what currently exists...so there's absolutely nothing wrong with this anime doing what it's trying to do. I think it's important to note that while the characters bodies are obviously drawn for females...a few of the characters themselves are portrayed to be pretty feminine (so love their bodies all you want, they don't want yours).

All the boys having girl-ish names. Makoto embodies the persona of a female. Nagisa is plain trap material. Really the only character I could connect with and get on board with rivaling was Nanase and Rin respectively. The other two boys are effectively added chatter to me...

KyoAni does it again though, I've always loved their animation style as it carries through every single series they put out. Free! is certainly not exempt, it's utterly beautiful, some of the moments with the water. Character designs (fan service aside) are obviously top notch.

Something I found difficult to get used to was how large the character builds are. I don't think it's very common that male high schoolers are portrayed as 0% fat muscle bound champions, even in KyoAni's other works, so it was an odd feeling of contrast visually when comparing to those other works, because these characters look simply MASSIVE in comparison to other boy characters we've seen in their anime, though it's not like I don't understand why, they are swimmers and this is a yaoi anime.

Really I think the key here is keeping things balanced. I have a lot of faith in KyoAni as it is, so I'm not worried yet, but seeing as how this is some pretty in-frequently explored territory, it's best to stay cautious. If they push the yaoi factor too much it could really detract from the aim of the show (which is essentially a heartfelt story about old friends who like to swim). We've seen it before. What is one of the #1 things people listed in their "Things I stop watching an anime for" list? I can almost guarantee you it was resoundingly "Too much fan service". It's irrelevant whether the characters are girls or boys.

I'll stay tuned.
