If you use Windows, then you can find this useful.

Create a new folder, entitle it...
God Mode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

You will now have a one-stop, searchable shop for everything the Control Panel can do, neatly laid out.
Truly indispensable.

A previous version of this thread was shut down do to false claims of a virus. Quality.
Anyways, here are some links verifying it's authenticity as a part of Windows 7.

Haha, I used this. There's really no need for it though.

The point?

Imagine, you know something exists in CP, but you can't find it anywhere. Open this, go to the search bar, and type, say, "Device Manage" or "Magnifier."

Really, you don't need it, but it saves a lot of time and frustration, and is great for the IT guy/gal in all of us.

Isn't the control panel already searchable?

"God Mode" isn't really all that useful on Windows 7, it's basically a listed version of the Control Panel. Seeing as it's already searchable in Windows 7, you can find the majority of these options by doing so. "God Mode" is just an Easter Egg (really, you can call it anything, not just "God Mode"). It's nice that you're attempting to help out, but you realise that a lot of those options could make/break things if an inexperienced user tinkered around without having a clear set of directions as to what does what.

That's a good point. I would say if a person is too inexperienced to find something they want on the computer on their own then they shouldn't be messing with it. If they are following some sort of guide to do what they want to do then finding it shouldn't be an issue either. Too many people start messing with things they know nothing about and then have to have others come and fix it for them but since they didn't know what they were doing in the first place they can't even really describe what they were doing when everything went to hell.

I think the search bar in the start menu is far more powerful than god mode (you can find it all from there anyway). Honestly unless 7 is your first version of Windows, you probably have some idea what you looking for and can probably find it quicker with said search box(s).

That was exactly my point, really. Windows 7 is powerful enough whereas you don't really need something like "God Mode". Sure, it's convenient to have everything under one roof; but, in the end, it's all located in the Control Panel (which is searchable even from the Start Menu). This isn't really anything all that special or all that useful because of these facts. I only worry that those who aren't too "computer savvy" may start flipping switches left and right.

I agree, if I search for something that does indeed exist on my computer, search bar will find it in under 5 seconds.

and lol, how did people in the past CR forums think that it's a virus? What did they say? That renaming your own file is the dark ritual of giving life to a virus or something?

I don't think that this is a stupid idea. I actually think it's cool! but as far as efficiency goes, I think I'll use my search function in the start menu. ^^ Thanks for sharing though. It's unique.
