When I was a young lad i was flipping through the channels one night. There on the screen was this weird looking cartoon. A guy in a red trench coat with a robot arm. Some other guy in a suit of armor. They used magic or something. That's right, I'm talking about the original Fullmetal Alchemist when it first started airing. It got me hooked so i checked it out again the following week which led to me seeing more anime. That is where it all began. I still remember it vividly too.

I actually don't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with anime

...I was four or three when I first started watching Sailor Moon (don't even know how I came across it as my parents aren't into anime), and from there I watched Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Cardcaptors, Digimon, Mew Mew Power, and then eventually the stuff I'm watching today.

I can happily say that I got my brothers hooked on anime through Soul Eater though!

There's pretty much three different times, that I've gotten into anime.

The first time, I don't really remember how it started, or what my first anime that I saw was. It might have been from seeing my brother watch DBZ or something when I was younger. Pretty much anything on Toonami I've watched, then of course Toonami changed, then I sort of stopped watching anime. The second time was around high school, when I got into Initial D, and the whole Japanese car market. Somehow I found Crunchyroll, and found they had a bunch of anime, and created this account back in '06.

The third time, was just this last year, that I got back into anime again. A friend of mine from work, who also watches anime from time to time, recommended me to watch High School of the Dead. After that, I came back to this site and signed up as a premium user, and haven't stopped yet.

There isn't a whole lot of shows I watch on TV now days, besides anything Auto Racing, so I end up mostly watching anime instead.

I watched the afternoon block of Toonami when I was younger, then Pokemon and Digimon when they were getting started. I stoped for awhile but I picked it back up in high school when I started to watch Fullmetal Alchemist and my brothers Ghost in the Shell.

this may be cliche, but Adult Swim and Toonami way back in the day. I remember running home from school to catch DBZ and staying up all night watching FMA, Cowboy Beebop, Trigun and Inuyasha with my little sisters.

Literally from the first time my mother sat me in front of a TV screen to get me out of her hair. It was Dragonball Z. The rest is history.

Heh heh, I actually had wrote this into the wrong thread when I got onto the forums and never did post it here, but here is my story of anime.

However, onto my story of getting into anime. I still remember clearly the origins of my appreciation of both Anime and Manga.

It all started way back in 2000. Actually, it started much earlier, but before then, I did not know the culture and for me, they were cartoons. This is the exact point in which it all changed completely. My brother and his girlfriend were getting into it, mostly whatever bad dubbed stuff was able to be had. Back then, it was tough to find since there wasn't the import market outside of major shows or movies. For the shows, they were the north american edits.

One day, they wanted to go rent some anime. There was a specialty rental store that had non pirate anime for rent in quite a large city. Not a big selection, probably three rows in one column of shelves. VHS as well, so not a whole lot of em. They grabbed some shows that turned out to be pretty bad with flashy covers etc. However I saw one, tucked up high, sorta tough to see so grabbed it. The cover had a futuristic red motorcycle and a young man wearing orange biker gear with a red and white pill on the back of the jacket.

The rest is history...
