I want to learn Swahili. I wanted to learn Korean for a while, but no longer want to visit Korea, so not interested any more. I should also brush up on my German, since I'd like to visit Germany, and despite a few years' hiatus I'm still arguably fluent.

As a sidenote, I haven't necessarily wanted to learn Japanese, but I've watched so much anime that I couldn't help but learn a lot. I'm even starting to figure out grammar rules now... yikes. Of course, I wouldn't walk into a Japanese business meeting with what I know now, but it's always nice to know more than zero.

Interesting. Why Swahili?

It's somewhat common in Kenya and a few neighboring countries, and I'll probably visit in the next few years since my mom's side is from Kenya. I might want to do business there someday as well. Plus the "mb" and "mw" sounds are kind of cool.

Honeslty I don't understand the question, if somebody says they want to learn Spanish then they want to learn Spanish.

i took a semester of Russian, I got a B but i still do not know a word of the language. Japanese i know basics but i need more practice

Haha I know that feeling. I was always great with languages. In school I got an A in Spanish, French and German, though nowadays I can only understand the gist of what is being said, but not really formulate proper sentences without giving it a lot of deep thought.

I know a bit of Mandarin, Russian and Korean though, and I took a course in College about 4 years ago in Japanese too and know loads of that because I keep getting refreshers by watching anime/movies, but I seem to be forgetting an awful lot of that too recently. I somehow unlearned hiragana and katakana even though about 2 years ago I was writing fluently in it and picked up loads of kanji too.

Japanese (Like most people on here lol) I speak English and I'm currently trying to learn Japanese. I can read Hiragana, I'm currently learning Katakana, and then I'm moving onto Kanji. It takes time and patience but I find it fun c:

For the most part they are all similar except for maybe a few different words or pronunciations. I only ask out of curiosity :/

Well, I'm somewhat fluent in spanish (still learning the really fine points of grammar and stuff, but I can speak pretty normally)
So i guess that counts. (and for the person above, i speak it like you would in Latin America. )
And Japanese. Wanted to learn it since before I started watching anime because I always like a challenge. Watching anime just bolstered that :)
Tried learning German and French, got bored with german and my vocal cords don't understand french pronunciation.
For reference, my first language is english xD

I always wanted to learn a real challenging language and now I'm going to learn Mandarin as soon as I'm done with high school.
Going to study Chinese & economics at university.
My first language is German and I've been learning English for almost ten years at school.
Also want to learn sign language (if that counts) and Dutch, Spanish or French.
