The only genre I was hesitant about was sports, but Hajime no Ippo changed my mind really quick. Now I'm pretty open to whatever I hear is good.

I'm drawn to slice-of-life/romance animes, but I'm a sucker for mystery anime. I've only watched four but their all in my top 15.

When I see a show where, on the cover-art bit the protagonist is holding a gun of some sort, I will usually watch the show. Also anything I have heard has very dark/gallows humor (e.g. Welcome to the NHK [typing this with the original book literally right next to me] or Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei) will probably be watched by me.

Edit: Oh, and the feels (Clannad, Angel Beats)

Romantic Comedy is my main "go-to" genre. If you mix in a bit of action or mystery or suspense or a good SF or Fantasy twist, that is good too. I tend to gravitate toward seinen more than shounen and am also fond of many shojo and josei. I find that light novel adaptations frequently have more complex stories, which I like. I also particularly fond of Alternate Universes, Time Travel, and Distopian Future stories.

But the main thing that gets me every time: Scenery Porn! I just love great background art!

yuri romance.

Other than that I'll watch anything as long as it isn't a genre I hate or suck for various other reasons.

Can't say I'm really drawn to one genre or another. I just enjoy good anime. I've watched and enjoyed everything from Serial Experiment Lain to Vampire Knight to Ghost in The Shell.

I have a huge soft spot for Mecha animes and the Sci-fi genre, though I'm not particularly picky otherwise. I feel like genre is a bit to ill defined a lot of times, so I don't usually think about it when I'm watching something.

Haha, I understand you completely (although I'm drawn to shounen-ai). It's just so tempting :P

The only genre I really dislike usually is harem.

Why yes, I'm actually quite fond of females. As is typical for most males.
