The anime is just awful to watch through every episode until the last one. Then you are happy because what happens is what you wanted to happen. This is just my opinion, but i feel like the ending didn't redeem the series as a whole.

School Days take 2:

School days can be summarized as the misadventures of a protagonist-kun named, Itou Makoto. Our story begins like any other, a feeling of love sparked by a simple train window glance of the most beautiful girl in the world. When Makoto finally gets the courage to ask our beloved maiden Katsura Kotonoha out he is rewarded beyond belief. Included with his girlfriend comes a package of a little sister, good lunches, entitlement, depression, joy, emotional roller coaster, and a soon to begin, love triangle, the list goes on and on. BTW this is just episode 1, you have no idea what episode 2 & 3 has in store. If episode 1 doesn't entice your appetite for a great teenaged oriented dark drama, I do not know what else can.

Challenge done...

I like it. But you surprised me. I was expecting something more like this:

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

That's not my opinion though. I think no one deserves that, and Makoto's actions were what a lot of people might do. Yeah, not the most honorable behavior, but not all that bad either.

(zipzo, that really is a spoiler, so since many of us have now failed to meet your challenge of explaining why watching this is a bad idea, and have instead explained why you should, go ahead and watch the show. Then you can read the spoilers.)

I saw this forum and after reading a couple posts decided that I should ignore all of you and just give School Days a try. Terrible decision, people are going to think I'm crazy for how many times I shouted at my computer in fits of rage.

The anime isn't the problem, it's the viewers who can't pick up on its sense of plot twist. It's a very easy & thick sense of suspense & angst mid-way through, and if you couldn't tell how it was going to end & you say you never saw it coming, then you must not be too good at noticing any kind of foreshadowing.

The anime is a great anime & I recommend it. It made you hate & love all the right people, while making the drama very suspenseful & plot driven. It starts out harem & will end in a different way than you anticipated from the very first episode. The execution was great & ties the change in mood with the story/plot perfectly.

sounds like a personal thread, but here's my opinion on it:

if you plan to watch anime often this should be something you'll eventually have to watch, be it a good or bad experience.

Heh well I suppose it could be personal but I'm essentially just curious if the vocal majority speaks for most people in that the anime is either a waste of time to watch, or if it's simply just shocking and something that I should experience despite its "bad-ness" simply because it's just one of those anime that you just sort of have to have under your belt. I have watched and continue to watch plenty of anime so it's not like I'm short on time to squeeze it in but I do drop series that I have no interest in.

I realize its ending is something psychotically upside down in nature, so I'll be somewhat prepared for whatever it is, but if the anime will 100% really make me angry for watching I'd rather save myself the grief

I reckon you should definitely watch it, seeing as though it's sparked your interest enough to start a discussion haha. Also you seem to be somewhat prepared for a mad ending, which in this case is probably a good thing. I was not prepared for the ending at all. It's definitely not the best anime, but in terms of thinking outside the box it gets 10 out of 10. It will make you angry, it will make you sad. It may even make you feel things you never realised an animated show could make you feel. But it's definitely worth your time, even if its just so you can bitch about it afterwards like the rest of us. haha

School Days was a simple case of psychological manipulation to all those who watch it and for some reason, once you start watching it, you must finish it. I cannot say I regret watching it although it can be scarring in its roundabout way of continuing and ending the plot. The sick, demented scenes that are in this anime are for good reason and are carried out well enough. Personally, I enjoy the genre, but this harem would strike a lot of people by surprise. It isn't for the faint of heart or those who are easily traumatized .

Like others have said, it really isn't bad, it's just that it gets irritating at the end. Watching School Days is like watching any other anime, whether you like it or not is based entirely on your tolerance of the subject matter and the producers went about conveying it. School Days does have a pretty solid story line and most of the problems people have with it is that it deals with a pretty taboo subject, pretty twisted ending, and characters that sort of hyperbolizes negative human behavior (as the main character is not the only one at fault).

I offer a challenge.

Can anyone without any spoilers at all, explain why watching this anime would be a bad idea or a waste of time? I would advise using words or concepts similar to "Unsatisfying" or "Makes you angry", or other similar modes of explanation. Anything but something that would spoil the plot (a bit of it is already spoiled because of how people act about the ending, regardless of whether they say what actually happened or not). I can derive and presume off of very little facts given, so I challenge someone to be careful in telling me why I shouldn't watch this anime without spoiling it.

If anything I feel like I should watch it just so I know what everyone is talking about...whether it is good or not, but if the show is truly a huge waste of time then I'd rather spend those ~5 hours getting invested in a different anime.

Thanks for any attempts at this challenge.

I'll put it this way:

I watch anime to escape from life or to enjoy a good story.
School Days was TOO real for me.

You want the abridged version?

Horny boy suffers the consequences of his actions.

Sorry, I dont think suffered is a good word.

How bout 'deserving' or something similar.

This is how much I hate the main character

Most the guys on here know that if girls were throwing pussy at you like they did Makoto, we would do the same thing. ESPECIALLY in high school. Lets not lie to ourselves.
