I think you just proved everything that School Days was trying to accomplish. There is no way that the creators didn't want you to hate Makoto and basically every character in the show. Isn't the point of writing a book, creating a show, game, or movie to make the audience have a response to what is happening? Now to point the realistic button, I have seen what happened in School Days happen in my high school, excluding the killing the guy part. In my experience I rarely see a girl go after the guy for being a total douche bag. Yes sometimes they do and in that case the voice of reason was Setsuna who was just trying to protect her friend. I agree with your end statement that this show is something people need to watch whether you absolutely hate it or love it. Though I don't think this show had anything to do with romance it was strictly lust on the guy part while the girls fell in love and as most people do when they are in love with someone they become blind to anything bad that they may do. So in my opinion this show was very believable and in my experience that is probably why I liked it so much.

You need to separate and strike a difference between accomplishing a goal, and being a good anime. Just because its goal was to be a shitty anime, doesn't mean that it wasn't a shitty anime because it succeeded at actually being shitty.

In the entertainment medium, trying to garner a viewer reaction is of course helpful, but there's good and bad reactions. There's also a "bad in a good way" reactions sometimes. School days is on a level far below any of these. It is simply bad. Period. You can't justify it's bad-ness by saying that it was different or that it achieved any kind of goal because at the end of the day it is still just bad. It has awful writing and dialogue, and not even conceivably average aspirations.

Most if not all of its story component just seems utterly superfluous. It's not worth thinking deeply over because it is such tripe. If it's not fun or fulfilling to watch, it's not a good show, no matter the genre. That's really all there is to it. School days is none of these, which is why it is bad.

Also most of the sexual encounters had nothing to do with love or any of the girls being in love with him (barring Sekai), you might need to re-watch the series, unfortunately for you.

Otome was clearly in love with him and so was the first girl (the spelling of her name escapes me) also I have now lost respect for your review because hating a show doesn't mean your opinion is right and your definition of a good show is clearly lacking. A good show doesn't need to be fun or fulfilling it simply needs to either be entertaining or have a connection with the viewers and in your review you used your time like is was valuable when everyone that watches a show usually doesn't consider their time to be a priority.

Are you implying that being entertaining and fun/fulfilling aren't intrinsically intertwined? Moreover are you suggesting that School Days establishes any kind of connection with its viewers?

School Days puts itself in a position where any given proponent (the huge minority) needs to present an argument as to why it's good, not the majority to describe why it is bad.

It's sort of like those B straight to video movies you used to see lining the walls at Blockbuster. Were any of them good? I mean sure, you might have found any number of them tolerable to sit through...good for wasting time. To call any of them good? Stretching it. School Days is one of those shows that if it were a movie, would fit perfectly smack dab in the middle of those old Blockbuster walls.

So.... if makoto's parents had been around, what would have become of the series?

I just am saying, in the game, with all the endings, proves that everyone loved him and wanted to sleep with him. EVERYONE

School Days, in my opinion, turned out to be quite entertaining, but most people are enraged by the show. I think the fact it can make someone feel strong emotions, whether good or bad is a sign the show was made well. I feel like this show pulled me in with its peculiar plot. This anime series was classed as a "Drama, Harem" so perhaps it didn't pan out the way most due. The Protagonist of the story goes for one chick but she makes it difficult to be intimate with. Then, he realizes others are "easy", so he does what most typical high school hormone raging boys would do. The horny teenager bones everything in sight like a dog with two d***'s.

If you like this show I'd suggest watching Future Diary, which is another of my favorites. The storyline was well put together.
