Have you ever killed a bug and felt guilty?
Posted 5/30/13
Not even trying to be funny, being COMPLETELY serious. All right so today I was getting ready to wash my Greek god body in the shower when all of a sudden I saw a spider just crawling around near the drain. So immediately my face went from to and I killed it instantly by taking tissue paper, beat the spider to death with the tissue paper, and then threw the tissue paper and its lifeless body into the toilet. I dunno why but all of a sudden I felt guilty. No, I'm not a tree hugger who will swerve and hit a tree on the road to avoid hitting the dumb squirrel who tried to cross it (although I would feel EXTREMELY guilty hitting a cute squirrel). But I just thought: "Wow, what a lame way to go for that spider."

Mmhmm, I tried to save a helpless caterpillar from my dog. I placed Mr.Caterpillar on the porch to tie up my dog, then once I headed back into the house. I accidently stepped on him and I killed him, I felt SO BAD.

I do agree with CalifCat, Roaches just need to be extinct.

Of course I feel guilty, especially if they are pregnant. I believe all lifeforms have a right to live as humans do.

People justify their killing of insects because they live for 1 week, but it shouldn't matter. I mean our lifespan in comparison to the age of the universe is also nothing.

I think humans only care about sentient life such as our own...

v NO ladybugs just crawl into the corners of your room and die, then they stink up the place. They need to be extinct !

I used to not care, but something drastic happened in my life and changed my perspective regarding small lifeforms.

hmmm... by bug I think you are referring to insects and arachnids

I also agree...roaches must die, ants... if they invade my space they die
Black widows... if I see them, they die. end of story, no guilt

other than these listed, I go by the live and let live policy, but if I happen to squash a bug by accident, I blame God.

HAHAH ^ just blame god. . .

I wont go out of my way just to kill insects but when the ants make it their goal to over-run my house i'm breaking out the poison...

There was this one time when I was a kid.

My aunt caught beetle for me and put it in a clear zip bag blown with air. Once I gotten back to my other grandma's house, I squished it; I jumped on the plastic bag and squished it. Though, my guilt didn't really stem from killing the insect, though it partially was; the guilt was from killing something that was a supposedly gift from my aunt. I cried that the beetle was reduced to nothing to a reddish juice in a zip lock bag, and I can't do anything to bring it back. The thought that ran through my head was "Auntie is going to be mad at me."

Now everytime that I see a beetle, I am reminded of that moment, my aunt's beetle, and my aunt.

Why? Roaches are highly evolved.
