Prices like this are the reason I wasn't (aside from Toonami back in the day), all that into anime until well into my 20's. Before then I didn't have good enough broadband or online availability.

The one time I scrimped and saved enough money to buy DVD's of an entire series was in like 2001 and cost me upwards of 200 dollars. And it just didn't feel worth it at all so I more or less stopped watching anime for nearly 10 years.

Haha I figured someone would get specific on me. If you want to see the details of them all, set 1, set 2, set 3, and set 4.

It's all in good fun ;)

Thanks for the details! It just strikes me as odd that they'd sell all of the Alfheim episodes for the same amount as the Aincrad episodes. I guess if you buy two, you'll buy it all.

Paying 90 dollars for a SAO blueray is like paying 20 dollars for a different kind of ice cream because it's organic.

Yes it is more than worth buying. As a fan of the show, no price is to high for my SAO addiction.

Would you buy the limited editions or the standard?

Both, obviously.

But nah, seriously, I would get the limited editions instead of the standards.

The problem I have is NIS has the same bluray quality , same quality of goods, but sells the same length of videos for half the prices. NIS knows they're in America. Aniplex does not. Aniplex doesn't care about fans. Aniplex cares about making the most profit possible. If they cared about fans they'd have lower prices to get more copies out to more fans. Instead, they sell as little copies as possible at highest possible prices.

Yes it does. There is enough people that do have that kind of money. I just wish they'd think about the rest of us....

For example, NIS sells Natsume DVD, 26 episodes, for 55 dollars WITH a HARDCOVER art book and some other goods. Aniplex of America, Sword Art DVDs, for 25 episodes it's over 150 dollars, and the only thing you get with that is a tiny poster. I don't care about any bonus materials, I just want the videos but there's no legit reason other than greed for them to charge 3 times more than others, especially when they don't pay any license fees like NIS does.

I could have already started ordering this, I'd really love to own the collector's editions of this anime...but over $100 for half a season? No...if it was 12 episodes, I'd probably get it...the entire 25 episodes and it would be a done deal without a second thought.

But as it is? Too expensive, even if I have the money on hand.
