I figured I would share my story to fellow Crunch Roll members. I went to Japan to film some videos for my YouTube show and also to write a book. At the same time I brought two pairs of spy sun glasses with me knowing that you can not film in Japanese arcades. After watching the DragonBall Z movie the first time, I figured I would use the glasses to record the movie. I was able to get the entire movie recorded but things did not end up exactly the way I wanted them to in the end.

YouTube video blog post here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTIUDlMA-Kw

After leaving the theater, I was asked to put my "3D Glasses" away. At the same time the DragonBall movie was playing so was Wreck it Ralph in 3D. While I was arguing the glasses were mine and not the theaters, the manager noticed something odd about my pair. He grabbed them and asked me to follow him into a room. They gave me food and were asking me about why I was in Japan, etc. Minutes later the police came and I as escorted to a local precinct. Here I was being questioned a lot about my trip, where I stayed, what I was doing, what kind of glasses they were, etc. Luckily they did not have the matching cord to link to a computer to see what was on it.

4 hours later and with my language school getting me out of the pickle, it was best advised I should leave before things could get worse.

Not your best idea, hm?
Why not just take them off before you left the theater?

You may not want to come out in a forum like this and admit to committing crimes in a foreign country. I think I have lost count as to how many people ended up in jail because they felt the need to brag about their exploits online.

lol. i bet your youtube videos would have been flagged a lot anyway. what exactly is your book on? how to sneak into a movie theater and record a movie illegally? sorry but that was a rather low decision

It didn't bother me that they stopped you out of suspicion what bothered me was this:

You sat in a movie theatre and bootlegged the entire DBZ movie in HD, and yet, somehow, you're surprised that you were arrested by the police?

This seriously has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever read. It's like you thought they'd be thanking you for pirating the movie. And now you're gloating about how you managed to avoid serving prison time?

It's one thing to delude yourself about the merits of piracy when you're in the United States, not having to face the scrutiny of the original Japanese artists and police --- but to actually bring that mindset to Japan and blatantly pirate a movie in one of their public theaters?

Now I understand why Japanese artists would like to see certain smug pirates face various constructive forms of death.
