I enjoy dark manga like gantz, Rainbow: Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin, Phantom requiem for the phantom, Darker than black, Shingeki no kyojin and Battle royal.

I want to start a physical collection any recommendations for dark manga are appreciated, never purchased manga before other than digital so please recommend retailers other than ebay&amazon.

I think every manga collector should purchase the nice hardback edition of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind that Viz Media recently released - it's beautiful and a true classic

Good places to shop are any bookstore (Books-A-Million, Barnes and Noble)
Online sites (JList, Amazon, eBay)
If you're looking for dark/psychological/seinen I would recommend 20th Century Boys

Dark manga? I have a few you might like.

I'm too lazy to write their descriptions but you should check them out. There's a few things I want to point out. Akumetsu is my favorite on the list. Trust me, that manga has some sick moments. Also, Kaiji is great but its a better Anime.

Akumetsu.

Death note.

Basilisk

Kaiji.

Wolf Guy

KOKOU NO HITO

Aku no hana

Mirai_nikki

Monster

Buraiden Gai

Btoooom

If you haven't read Akira then read that. There are only 6 volumes so it isn't a huge investment like some of the longer series. Also the book are larger and have some fantastic art.

Definitely Deathnote, Neon Genesis Evangelion, I would strong suggest works by Tezuka specifically Buddha, Barbara, Ayako (all classics), Tatsumi has some really good works (A Drifting Life, The Push Man and other short stories)
