The two are completely different shows, and the only thing they really have in common is that they take place in space. I love both, to be honest, and they both have their issues.

Personally? Star Trek, only because I don't really care for pointless romance and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica is chalk full of it. But even then, it's still apple and oranges.

I'm assuming we are talking about 2004 BSG and not 1978 on right?

Well, they are different, But Ron Moore(the developer and writer of Galactica) did also write many episodes for Deep Space Nine and Next Generation. He said that Battlestar was kind of born in the writing rooms of DS9.

But to answer your question...it's Battlestar Galactica all the way for me. It's a top 3 favorite show of all time for me.I think it was a beautiful and dark show, with great characters... It's about that time for me to marathon the series again

Never seen BSG, but I have watched a handful of Star Trek (original, next gen, one episode of deep space) and one thing I love is how they aren't afraid to be campy and that's one of the most entertaining parts of the show...

let's not even mention how accurate the cast for the new movies are (except Sulu. Ando from Heroes would've been more suited for the role)

I enjoy both for entirely different reasons. If I *had* to chose, I'd probably pick Star Trek.
