Ouya has reached/shipped to all early backers, I've had mine for about 3 weeks now, loading it up with some non-ouya store streaming apps like hulu, netflix and of course, Crunchyroll.

Only downside is, these apps are designed for touchscreen interfaces and don't work well with controller based controls. I wanted to see if there is any plans to build an verison for the ouya?

I've attempted to use the CR version from my tablet and also a Google TV variant of CR apk, in the end they both worked the same and just wasn't the best. It streams well (not full HD, looks like 480p, maybe 720p on my 1080p res screen) but the lack of button functionality to skip ahead, or even pause kinda sucks.

As Ouya is basically an android device not sure why they need to drop it as android is actively worked on.

One possible issue is that the general Android app is doubtless tuned to a touch interface and probably wouldn't work well with the OUYA controller without extra tweaking (which implies at least some coding for a small user base). You can probably get an idea of how much of an issue this is from people who have side loaded the app onto a Fire TV.

Another issue is that OUYA uses a customized version of Android 4.1, not a stock version. I don't know if whether some of those differences might require tweaking the code of the standard Android app.

Also, as the OUYA's OS seems unlikely to be updated, as soon as the CR Android app moves to requiring Android 4.2 or later (it already requires 4.0), another problem arises.

With the purchase by Razer, the Ouya's future might be in question. Since it was originally released in 2012-2013, I'd be curious what version of Android it is actually running, and if it's out of date, perhaps that could have factored into CR's decision as well.

I actually bought the Ouya over other HTPC candidates because it was supported by Crunchyroll. If it breaks I may try standard android app, I have an F10-Pro remote which can be a mouse albeit clumsy. Ouya lets me do XBMC as well, maybe I'll just go to torrents as they seem to be going out of their way to make it hard for people to use the service even cutting off TVs and blu-rays.

I tried the real android app on OUYA, menus work without going into some mousy mode. menu works just like ouya version.
Video is SD for some reason while Ouya version looks great. A few times I tried it would play for 5 minutes and hang every time and have to be killed. It does save play position.

Most promising is crunchyroll takeout on kodi but haven't got by directory write errors that often happen on Android. Been deleting and reinstalling and messing with direcotory permissions (I am rooted). I only have little time slices to give it. tried crunchyroll takeout on kodi on PC and it worked really well. Plex failed miserably even with latest git pull.
