So I was just wondering how and why I'm seeing so many links in the video comment sections in a lot of the animes I watch on here? EX: I watch the video, scroll down to start reading the comment section of the video that I'm watching, and one of the comments would look like this: THIS ANIME IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ANIMES, for the example the word FAVORITE is highlighted a different color and underscored just like i have in here, so when you scroll over the word FAVORITE a link to what looks like some kind of advertisement will pop up. If someone could explain how and why people are doing this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It is Advertising.

Either Crunchyroll is doing it or some 3rd party. If Crunchyroll isn't doing it, then run a Malware/Adware scan on your computer or laptop, and/or check your web browser for any unusual plug-ins or Aps that you don't remember installing.

FYI ... I don't see any "Ad Words" or linked words being served up when I look at comments in the video section. Also, you might want to send a note directly to Crunchyroll Support [http://www.crunchyroll.com/help?topic=contact] if it continues. They might be able to help you.

Cheers.

I never click on them just in case it is some kind of malware/adware/virsus, i've only scrolled over them to see what they were about. I dont trust things like that at all. The comments are from what look like regular CR members just making their comments on the video, and its always just 1 word in their comment that will be like that.

Yep... they could be linked to malware/adware. It's usually key word linkage for various reasons such as Ad revenue, gaming Google's AdSense, and so on. Most common form is something like this:

The double under line link, but it can be a single lined link as well. What are you viewing the comments with? Windows PC? Mac? Tablet? Which browser are you using? Which version?

Again, if CR isn't serving up these Ads, I recommend you run a scan on your system and check your browser plug-ins/Aps or toolbars.

Ah... well, as a precaution, you might want to check this out:

- Adware: How To Remove Text Enhance
- http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-text-enhance/

Text Enhance (Text-Enhance) is a form of bundled flash adware (categorized as a browser hijacker) that attaches to internet browsers as an extension and cookie without user consent. The primary website for Text Enhance does not allow users to download their extension, nor can their extension be found on Google Chrome’s extension database, nor any other browser’s add on database for that matter.

Victims of what is often incorrectly referred to as the Text Enhance virus usually notice they have been attacked by Text Enhance when webpages have links or hover links with certain spam advertisements and information in a pop up window (pictured). These are called in-text advertisements. The owners behind Text Enhance generate income by providing advertisement services (adware platform) to cyber criminals and unethical third parties, as well as compromising and possibly selling personal information.

If CR pops in here and says they are serving the Ads, then don't worry about it, but if not, you might want to Google up some info on a possible browser situation.
