yes, i'd say wait until college.
junior year & senior year is the time to get serious because of all the testing [SATs, APs, etc] and you should focus on that more than becoming an exchange student. well for now, anyways.

For a while now I've been thinking about studing abroad in Japan for my junior year of high school. I was wondering if I should do it and if the programs are any good.

Your best bet is to start learning the language now. IN a few years you should be ready for college, through college apply for one of the international programs and hop on over to japan. More opportunities will open up that way, and if you want to stay in Japan longer, they are always looking for japanese to english translators or teachers.

Careful though, Anime does not = Japan. Many get caught up in this otaku frame of mind that Japan is some perfect holy country...its really not. Visually though, its a beautiful country.

I'm planning to go studying in Hong Kong after finishing high school. I'm so looking forward to it.
Even though I've never been in Hong Kong, I already think it'll be my favorite place in the world

So, have anyone been a transfer student in Hong Kong?

My brother & sister went on an exchange student program and they said it was fun & they learned a lot. My sister went to the Netherlends in her 2nd year & my brother went to Germany in his 1st year of high school.

I want to study abroad. A lot of people say it's a very rewarding experience.

My high school had a program and we always had 1-3 exchange students a year. It's nice meeting people face-to-face outside of your own country.

Junior year??? Isn't that when you supposed to be either taking your APs or IBs? School wise, it is not a good time to be traveling abroad unless you really don't care too much about your workload. I'd advise you to do it in college or senior year of high school (then again some people's senior year is just as bad as their junior year). There are more opportunities available in college and more choices too.

But its up to you in the end.

Actually at my school Junior is probably the easiest. Its Freshmen and Sophmore years that suck.

really? That's the year we have to take SATs...and you know how painful they are. (luckily, right now I'm just a freshie)

wow, i wrote that comment a LONG time ago. now I agree with you, Junior Year is the worst. We have SATs, Georgia High School Writing Tests, Georgia High School Graduation Tests and I'm taking AP Classes now, so I barely have any freetime.

That's why I don't talk on crunchyroll that much anymore.
