I will be going in 2 days to my first Otakon!!! Could any of the veterans give me any hints as to what kind of lineup times are needed to get into different types of events like the concert/featured fan panels/guest q&a's?

Unfortunately the two things I am most excite for are happening to close together to attend both :(

But can't wait to see you all there!

Crunchyroll is there, with a livestream: www.crunchyroll.com/live

So if you didn't get to go, you can still join in via the livestream chat.

The livestream and chat has ended for the day. Livestream and chat will resume at 10:00 am EST. You should be able to see the video stream regardless (once it starts at 10 am), but if you try to chat tomorrow and can't then you were probably banned.

To lorren:

Ahh wasn't aware of that, thanks for the heads up.

It's funny how Otakon started today and it's also the day I go on a nice vacation. I'm already on the road via greyhound, but it's good to see people from CR back in my home town being part of Otakon.

Also, please don't go all over downtown baltimore. Trust me, stick close to your hotel or the convention center. I really mean this because sadly my home town has been in the news recently with the violent incidents and whatnot.

ROFL, a Crunchyroll lanyard is my special gift for being a paid member showing up at their booth. Such swag. (So much hate from me, I know. I never have anything nice to say about Crunchyroll it seems.)

I was watching the stream today and noticed a couple things. I have never been to a convention before, so someone please fill me in.

1. What's with all the asking everyone to kiss each other? Actually, I was kind of creeped out that superman guy seemed totally into it and seemed to be looking for takers. Even more creepy? A lot of those girls are underage. Now I'm not saying that some inappropriate makeout session is about to occur, and I don't consider myself a prude, but does the mere presence of anime costumes somehow stir folks into such a frenzy that this is normal? And the hugging thing... it's almost like a crap ton of incredibly lonely guys put a mask or a t-shirt on and go to these things specifically for the girls. My two cents, be respectful to the girls and ask before you touch. It also makes me hesitate to bring any of my female friends to a convention if I'm going to have to play bodyguard against perverted, horny guys all day. Is this normal?
2. There were some great moments. The dancing was funny, the costumes were well done, and it was cool to see some of my favorite characters.
3. The new age elevator music at the convention… wow.
4. Would like to get reports on the panels from people leaving them. That would be a great question for the moderator to ask.
5. I want to see what products are available or being sold.

1. It's fanservice with all that yuri/yaoi stuff & in other cases the pairing makes sense like Asuna/Kirito so the audience likes to egg them on to do stuff they normally wouldn't do for kicks. Outside of being in front a live cam, you'll have a few ppl who are oblivious that they are making someone uncomfortable for whatever reason but for the most part are probably harmless once told off.

2. The Titan cosplayer pair on Fri were the best so far for AoT. The 3d gear looked really well done & they had a good resemblance to their character.

3. All I heard was looping music from nearby booths advertising something. Didn't really sound new age to me.

4. The stream as set up without a dedicated host & mics doesn't really lend itself to this well. You can always ask & hope for an answer. I like to check out the official facebook or official convention forums for that type of feedback.

5. Stuff being sold are usually DVD,s CD,s figures, artbooks, posters, manga, doujin, videogames, cosplay/ goth/ lolita clothing/accessories, masks, headware, plushies, knickknacks. And crafts, art prints, & original art in the artist alley.

Willing to donate cash or equipment to crunchyroll for a better resolution camera and mic. Great to to talk to everyone at the show. Much love for Kathy, she kept it moving and interactive. Hire her!

Be nice, but I bet they're more limited by their convention center provided internet connection then the hardware. Still probably cost a few grand to stream like that.
