I'm quite interested so here's my application:

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

From my estimation, I believe I have the skills for this position for a variety of reasons. I am very proficient in English (as I write reviews on anime). I am also very motivated and highly active on Crunchyroll as well as around the community/forums. I am also very proficient in determining/judging on what is right or wrong based on my years of experience around online communities. I also work very well with others and is able to approach tasks patiently and effectively.

I am also eager to help anyone in need as I have done in the past, present, and in the future. I am also active on other online communities so I know how to deal with various situations such as advertising, moving threads, delete inappropriate topics, removing spoilers that are not tagged correctly, break up arguments, and warn users of breaking rules. I also know very well of the rules/guidelines on Crunchyroll through my years here. Through my experience, I have learned a lot about the online communities such as Crunchyroll and hoping to improve the quality of this site if I am selected.

2) What would your moderation style be?

In general, my moderation style would depend on the situation. There's a line that would be crossed but I am usually fair with my judgements. It is important to act mature and civil during situations where there is a troll or attempted flame bait. I am proficient at dealing with these type of situations as I have also been a moderator on another gaming site. (not anime community though).

There are various age groups here on Crunchyroll so patience is also a key. Thus, I generally give advice (especially to newcomers) and approach a situation with a clear mind and goal to ensure that an event doesn't go out of hand. As a problem solver, I can deal with problems with a calm mind and effectively control a situation should it get out of hand.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I have been on this site for awhile now and have been very active with discussing anime, manga, news, etc so I frequent this site every single day. In general, I am usually online for many hours (5-10 hours depending on day of the week) so I spent a lot of time here in the community. There are times when I am unavailable but usually that's a rare case. I also surf the forums at different hour periods so any time is generally ideal for me.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

Yes. Usually for topics that are either necro posted (from years back), duplicate threads, wrong sections, or a thread that goes completely off topic. I have not reported many recently but when the time comes, it's done.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

In my opinion, this question can depend for different people but I would say as much as time as possible to dedicate the position you're assigned to. Basically, I would feel like this position would be a part-time job for me and I would take this task very seriously to ensure that I get the job done when called for. The amount of time for me usually ranges from hours to hours but I feel like spending as much as time as possible while using it effectively is an important key here.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

Right now, I generally watch anime and manga. However, in the past I like to play MMORPG games. I also like to cook (since I get lazy to go out to buy food sometimes :p), driving around town in my car, and watching sports on TV. Heh, is this a trick question? :P

7) What timezone do you live in?

GMT-7 (California); the same as where CR was founded I believe.

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

Not many other comments to add but I would say that to be necessary for this task, motivation and experience are keys. Also, handling and dealing with situations at hand with patience is also an important factor imo. I enjoy helping others and is fairly a nice person. Being nice is nice after all! I think the Crunchyroll forums could use some help and I'm glad to offer it.

Good luck everyone!

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I moderate and run a very active group within the site. In fact, a couple moderators from the site have come and visited. *:D* I also am a very active anime watcher which allows me the opportunity to participate more into the threads. I also know a little bit about coding, so if that helps.

2) What would your moderation style be?

Very relaxed and if there is a problem that occurs, I will spoil the message and PM the person privately to not cause issuess. When issues arise I tend to me more of a problem solver rather then a problem maker. I am I rather fun guy to hang around and everyone in the group, Night Owls, will knock me but when asked seriously they'll all say I am a respectable guy who can handle whatever job is thrown at me.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I visit there every hour or so to see what's being posted and what things are being said, AKA lurking, though I am on the website forum's page on average 10+ hours of the day. There isn't a time that the forums of the site are not pulled up on my computer. About posting, I say i post ton 2 or 3 threads a night and see where they take me.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

I've report those that I feel are breaking the rules of CR. Then I also report threads that I think are already around and If not, and if selected for the position, i'd take it one step further and FIND the thread I believe is similar, link it in the newer one and leave it at that, though also informing the thread poster of the post/link via quoting.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

As mentioned before, there isn't a time of day, besides when i go to work, that CR is not pulled up on my computer or computer tabs. I spend on average 10+ HRs on here, and all that while, I can spend moderating going back and forth.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

I work a part time job and am currently majoring in video game design at a University. I also run a smaller/large group, 250+ members, which i moderate on a daily basis, I am also into MMO's, such as Tera Rising and PSO2. Other then online gaming, anime, and CR... i haven't much else xD

7) What timezone do you live in?

Central Time.

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

I know a couple moderators and I know how their style is. If selected as a moderator I would treat the forums as threads found in my own group. If they are not appropriate or are lacking activity I will lock them, average stuff. EXTRA INFO: about myself, I recently became SUPER active gaining over 8000CR points in the 1st month of becoming active. I am either on my group page, or lurking the forums. Also want to mention that I am not in this for the Free All-Access membership, I'm in this because I love crunchyroll and I want to dedicate myself to its people. Anyway, I want to say thanks for the opportunity and I hope to work with you all in the future

    1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

  • I am friendly, I know the rules, and I enjoy helping people fix their problems.

  • 2) What would your moderation style be?

  • My style would be to intervene when necessary. If only a small part of a post is breaking a rule then I would edit out the offending part and then send the user a notice that I edited their post as well as what rule it broke. If the post is beyond recovery I would delete the whole thing and pm the user about it and depending on the severity of the infraction, warn them to not do it again. Those who ignore the warning and continue to break the rules would quickly find their name on the short-term ban list.

  • 3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

  • I am practically on CR all the time that I am awake. I spend most of my time in the Help/Support forums, but I could venture out into the other boards without a problem. I would say that I post fairly frequently.

  • 4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

  • On the rare occasion that there were inappropriate threads/posts in the help forums, I reported them.

  • 5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

  • I feel that anytime I am on the site is a good time to moderate, as long as it isn't 9:30AM on a saturday.

  • 6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

  • My other hobbies include the occasional video game, programming in various languages (currently Javascript), and I am a physics major in college so I guess that counts.

  • 7) What timezone do you live in?

  • UTC -5 aka EST

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I'm a computer programmer, fluent in technical issues, and try to work with people to find the best solution to their problems, technical or other.

2) What would your moderation style be?

Gently nudging people towards the correct path in general, and negotiating correct responses when people request aid. Comment removal and banning only as a last resort.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I view the site a few times a day, and post erratically (sometimes multiple posts per day, sometimes I go weeks without seeing something to respond to). So long as someone responds to me, I try to respond back to keep the conversation going if appropriate.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

Not so far. I tend to use down votes for things I see as inappropriate (spoilers without appropriate tags and so on), since I hope those are seen as a warning flag of something I think is bad, but isn't explicitly written into the rules as wrong. So far I'd only report something if it was obviously against the rules - porn or other issues that I happened to find.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

I would think a few hours a day at most. Assuming one is a mod, you might get messages about specific posts and such that you might need to deal with at any time of the day, but general looking at the forum would hopefully be done a few times a day to catch new posts.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

Video game programming (published games for PC, XBox, PS2, DS, PSP, Wii, X360, PS3, iOS), cosplay, prop construction, robotics, karate, rock climbing.

7) What timezone do you live in?

CST (US)

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

Whatever the rules are, I think they should be published so people can follow them correctly and know why their posts are being removed if that happens. That's the only way to ensure that all users have the same experience.

1) I've moderated a forum before. I also spent time as an ambassador on xbox.com

2) Not sure "style" is the word I would use. If I saw a post that is vulgar, offensive, racist or a spoiler, I would remove it. If an argument between two people resulted in personal attacks, I would suggest they calm down. If a person posted a thread about Call of Duty in the anime section, I would move it to the games section.

3) Almost daily. I post quite a bit, but not always. I generally only post if I feel I have something relevant to contribute to the discussion. Or at least a funny one liner.

4) A few. Not many.

5) I'm not sure what amount time would be appropriate. But I spend a lot of time on this site. So if I'm here, I might as well be doing something constructive while I'm at it.

6) Gaming and TV shows. (Game of Thrones last night?!?! OMG!!!!)

7) Eastern Standard Time. I live in Florida.
