1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I have previous modding experience on a RP forum here on Crunchy Roll called 'In Depth Roleplay' and am currently a manager of a Plug DJ room where I manage up to 50 people at once and uphold the room rules and theme as appropriate. I give people a warning if they break the rules and after that warning, if they do it again, I either remove them from the DJ Booth, kick them or ban them depending on the severity of the rule breaking. I have very good people skills, a good level of understanding and I love to help people with any issues that they are having.

2) What would your moderation style be?

My style would be relaxed but alert. I would scan the forums every so often for inappropriate behavior and deal with it at that moment. I do not like to make a scene and would deal with peoples issues in a private manner whenever possible. Any forum issues that would be brought to my attention will be dealt with asap. I will still post regularly on these forums and mingle among the users but I will not be playing favorites among users as that would cause some conflict.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I am on the CR forums daily and i post quite often. Most often in the forum games section but I do like to discuss things on other forums as well.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

Yes I have reported inappropriate threads. Spam threads, off topic threads, troll threads etc. I will report the the thread if it has not already been reported to the mods. It has been a few days since I have noticed one that has not been reported or dealt with already so I don't report that often.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

Because I love this website and the community, I feel that I should spend at least 2 to 3 hours a day modding, more if mods get lots of messages about issues that people have.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

Other hobbies that I have are music production, DJing, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, model building, gaming.

7) What timezone do you live in?

Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) -0600 UTC

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

I'll keep mine short simply because nobody wants to read everything I have to say (imagine reading a 90 page essay as an application XD )

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?
I have experience in several games and forums as a moderator. I can be very friendly with people-especially those I don't know. I am very good at remaining neutral-even if the people involved are people I know. In addition, I tend to be good at observing things that some others miss.

2) What would your moderation style be?
I would likely have a fairly strict moderation style in regards to rules, but otherwise, I would try to be friendly and helpful. I believe that a moderator's powers should only be used if necessary and that if possible and reasonable, it is always better to get people to voluntarily make corrections.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?
I visit the official forum categories on occasion (usually when I see news that interests me, but otherwise just when I feel like looking around), but I rarely post. I prefer to observe. When I do post, it is usually in one of the news threads.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
No, I have not-at least not on crunchyroll. As I mentioned in question 3, I only visit the official forum categories on occasion meaning any inappropriate threads are usually gone by the time I look. On other sites though, I often report inappropriate threads and posts.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?
24/7 or enough hours to make it seem like it. I know that people in general tend to try to do inappropriate things when mods are offline, thus whenever I moderate in a forum or a game, I like to hop on whenever I am free just to check up on things just to show people that there is always a moderator if needed.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?
Programming, Playing games, Designing websites, Debugging, Bug hunting (computer bugs), Observing, Researching, Experimenting, Reading (books, manga, etc.). I have a lot of other hobbies too, but I'll just keep it to my main hobbies.

7) What timezone do you live in?
PST (West coast USA, Pacific Time zone (not sure if it is standard or daylight savings now, I never could remember which was when).

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:
As I mentioned before, I have been a moderator in many forums and games. In most, I have been asked to return several times after leaving (I generally leave for reasons such as having to go on extended trips for military reasons). I believe that their asking me to return is a sign that I did a good job-at least in their eyes.
In several games I have modded for, after leaving as a moderator, the developers/CEOs/admins have come to me asking for advice on things ranging from names (in one game, I chose the names for several items) to development advice (which direction to make the game grow) to how to deal with 'hackers'/cheaters. I put 'hackers' in marks as they generally aren't the actual hackers, just people using programs.

I tend to be a late night person though-which is usually perfect for moderation purposes since it means I usually end up covering hours that other moderators end up not covering. (I normally play North American servers for games and Forums written in English so most moderators I've met personally are either from EST or PST-Though I have met a few from Russia, China, etc.).

I would have to say I do have a few things that I fail at in relation to moderating. I tend to be strict in regards to rules-sometimes too strict. I have been known to suspend (temp ban) fellow moderators, myself, and even admins. I am less strict now though i will still suspend myself from time to time when I catch myself breaking rules. The reason for this is that I believe that the moderators are an example to people and if moderators act above the law, then people won't willingly follow their words, but will follow their example instead and try to be 'above the law' themselves.
Secondly, I tend to talk too much. I am not good with words as I tend to say things in a way that is misinterpreted easily. As such, I have developed a habit of using more words to explain what I mean. And then using more words to explain those words.

Obviously as part of my experience, I have also picked up fragments of other languages. Not such a big deal from what I've seen in Crunchyroll, but figured I'd mention that. I mostly just know a few of the more 'common' words people use to circumvent chat filters though (as in using the word in a different language). On the other hand, I have studied many of these same languages for various reasons so to some extent, I know them beyond those 'common' words. Though without having an opportunity to use said languages much, I have lost much what of that which i learned.

I do realize that my power level is low and thus my chances are likely low also, but I am hoping that my experience elsewhere somewhat makes up for that.

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

Did Peer Mediation in High School and have a Psychology Degree. Helping people is a passion of mine. I have a very positive personality. I make it easy for anyone to come and talk to me about anything. I'm a fair person and base things on what's right and best for the outcome. I like to make things fun for the people around me so we can all have a good time. For those reasons I was chosen to be a Helper on the adultswim.com message boards (I go by AS_anime_watcher on there) and have been doing so for almost 4 years. As a Helper I edit out spoilers, answer questions (show or site related), organize show forums, making sure topics aren't repeats and stay to what they are about, keep other users informed about the different shows, and just all around make sure anyone who comes to the site have a good time with no problems. We basically set the example of the right things to do on the site. I also have time availability to be dedicated when need to. I currently work in Customer Service so on a daily bases I have and know how to deal with all types of people (from the most friendly to as rude as can be).

2) What would your moderation style be?

I would first read through all the topics and the posts in them to see what is actually being talked about and see if they fit being on the site. Depending on the topic, if it doesn't follow what is going on, I would to to revert it back the the original discussion. If I see if there is some back and forth disagreement, I would read through it carefully to see if it's a reasonably disagreement (debate sort of thing) or if it's getting a little to personal (name calling). From there, I would take the appropriate steps you would want your mods to follow when a problem arises. During any incidents where the person refuses to follow rules or stop their disruptive ways, immediate action of a ban will have to be taken. I'm not afraid to take these measures if it means the safety of the rest of the forum/site. In the end, I hope for the best for everyone in the situation.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I visit on a daily basis mostly just to read other opinions besides my own especially if it's different (I like different perspectives). I rarely post because I'm more reading it but if I really feel to add my comment I do so. The topic is another reason that would have me posting or not.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

I have not reported inappropriate threads on this forum before but I have on other sites when call for it. I usually use the report link provided by the site as told to do so when a problem arrives and also a short message to the mod available explaining the need for it.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

I would say at least 3 good hours (longer depending the the time of day and traffic coming in) to really read everything to making sure things are up to the forum's standards.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

I love watching movies whether on TV or at the movies, watching TV, writing short stories (fanfiction or self created), shopping especially for Hello Kitty and Rainbow Dash stuff, traveling, swimming, working (I need to pay for my membership somehow lol), Listening to music (currently the new Daft Punk CD), Finding anything glasses related since I do wear glasses. I also started writing articles for another site. Going to cons (well I hope to make a hobby)

7) What timezone do you live in?

Eastern Time (Florida)

I will be strict and fair in upholding the rules, but I am also very friendly, calm and polite. If I see someone breaking the rules I will give them a warning, if they break it a second time I will ban them for a few days. 1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?
I am detail oriented and able and willing to work to keep the CR forums up to standard. I like working out differences of opinion between people and have always been intrigued by conflict resolution skills. Hopefully this gives me an opportunity to explore that in more depth.

2) What would your moderation style be?
Peace loving hippy meets takes-small-things-too-seriously style.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?
Truthfully I check the official forum categories as often as I get the CR email newsletter to remind me, and then read the ones I am most interested in. I don’t really post much at all, since I like reading what others post more than posting myself.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
Not particularly, as I haven’t found any in the threads I’ve read so far. It should speak well of the current moderators ;)

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?
I wouldn’t know, since I haven’t done it before. I would think somewhere around an hour per day, or more depending on the length of threads to be read, etc.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?
I love crochet, playing the piano, watching movies, yoga, reading online articles regarding health, nutrition and fitness and I love reading manga and sci-fi/fantasy novels.

7) What timezone do you live in?
Pacific Standard Time

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:
I don’t have experience as a moderator, but I have learned to diffuse arguments in many online groups, inside and outside Facebook, where I tend to spend a ridiculous amount of time. My motto goes along the lines of Vash the Stampede's: “Love and Peace” :D

Questions:

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I have been a moderator on a few of the larger Dutch Anime community forums for more than a decade.
These years of experience have ganted me a lot of experience handling very different situations and how to handle people like trolls, jokers and general troublemakers and I have developed an excellent eye for spammers, even the very well hidden ones.

2) What would your moderation style be?

I must admit I do have a very strict moderation policy.
Forum rules are there for a reason and like the ones on this website mostly based on common courtesy and sense so there should be no reason to not follow or misunderstand them.
That said, people can always approach me by for example private messaging if they feel they disagree with an action I took.

Also the posts I make as a moderator will be very distinguishable from the posts I make as a regular member of the boards.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I visit several times each day browsing mostly through the recent topics and the support forums.
I usually spend my time reading and try to only post when I feel I have relevant material to bring into a discussion.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

I have on occasion reported posts and threads although I cannot say how often.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

I must admit I find this a hard question to answer, it really depends on how everyone behaves and how much time I have myself.
This can be 15 minutes on one day and several hours on the next, although I feel that if I have to really spend moderating for several hours in a single day something must be terribly wrong.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

Many actually:
Reading, traveling, watching movies, gaming, tinkering with computers, photography and organizing an anual Anime convention are a few of them.

7) What timezone do you live in?

CET (GMT +1)
Amsterdam, the Netherlands

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?
- I usually oversee projects, lead in school events and also had to help train other in certain things such as in my old job in manhattan by helping correct mistakes and help people learn to do things the correct way. It was pretty stressful but they're things you need to do to make everyone else happy. ( worked in a clothing store in soho ). I've helped friends with a few websites and have helped deal with spammers and people of that sort before. Though these examples are not necessarily the same I believe I have what it takes to do this job correctly.

2) What would your moderation style be?
- Fair but some what strict. Rules are rules. They're made for everyone to feel safe and comfortable breaking them will just break the flow of things. This website has been going great and the rules are there so it can continue to in the future. People may fumble or mess up at times, no one is perfect, but theirs a difference from that and someone who just ignores the rules. And if I get this position i'll do as much as I can to keep this place fair.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?
- It was pretty often to begin with but I stopped due to schooling and finals. ( I am a college student ). Now that I finished recently I spend some of my free time commenting on forums and usually news stories.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?
- To tell you the truth I haven't really. Maybe once or twice I've seen a duplicate thread or something that appropriate for discussion but other than that, I haven't seen much due to the fact that they were probably reported before I even seen it. So kudos to whoever was doing their job right. I have reported comments though.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?
Any time not spent watching anime. All it takes is a look in the forums or even comments under the anime you're watching just to see if things are alright. I think almost the same amount of time you spend watching anime should be for moderating, if not more.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?
Culinary arts, Photography. I actually was going to ask some people at Crunchyroll if they needed a photographer because I'd love to take photo of cosplay and things of that sort. I also bike and swim a lot.

7) What timezone do you live in?
Eastern time zone.

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

- Regardless of being chosen or not, i'm glad you took the time out your day to read my comment and I wanted to thank you for making this a great place, for giving me the chance to read about awesome news that pertains to anime that you usually don't find other places, for the newsletter that lets me know about any anime's that i may have missed. And most of all, for the anime. Thank you.

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I am charismatic, a fast reader, quick at summarizing, good at organizing people, and most of all, have studied, through a lot of direct volunteering as well as school, much economic, ethical, feminist, racial justice, environmental, and related philosophy. The latter makes it so that I know much about the plethora of perspectives and experiences people have, and so can easily figure out roughly why they may be breaking the forum rules and how best to deal with them. I have also had a lot of practice engaging people generally as well as organizing them for civic action, on forums, at tabling events, when leading ecosystem restoration service days, and more.

2) What would your moderation style be?

I make eco-feminism and environmental justice a priory in everything that I do in my life, because if I do not that is one less person siding directly with them, an action done at everyone's peril. Due to this, I am rather intolerant towards posts that include rape jokes and outright misogynistic language. I will give warnings, and I will ask people if they know how harmful a rape joke they just made was, say, but overall I will be fairly heavy handed. This community should not be one where people (mostly men) get to pick on others, because there should not be a place where it is okay to bully, harass, shame, and more other people.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I am relatively new to Crunchyroll. This is a fact I would like to change. I am, however, not new to online forums. I frequent Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Disqus, YouTube, MeetUp, and more and post quite often on all of them. The same can be said for anime and other fan convention forums like FanimeCon's, Sakura-Con's, and Kumori-Con's. Crunchyroll is a community that I have been meaning to get more involved in for some time, and to me this seems like the best way in to meet the sort of people that I want to befriend and encourage to join the anime and broader genre fiction community.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

Yes, across all the various social networking websites that I use, and on Amazon, I have reported at least one inappropriate thread. I already volunteer to content monitor for my alma mater's Feminist Discussion Group on Facebook as well as do the same for my former employer Miss Representation's Twitter feed. As of right now, they have only tended to get massively inappropriate threads when they have launched events annual like Superbowl protests or pay scale bake sales. I have also been helping Women Action Media (WAM) in their successful attempts to remove the pro-rape pages from Facebook. I want to more.

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

No more than an hour in the morning and evening, or six quick twenty minute sessions throughout the day. I wish I could do more, but like preventing harassment at fan conventions (something I volunteer to do), it is not a single person job. This is something everyone should begin to undertake in order to make our community a safe and inviting place for everyone to be. I want this community to be that way. It seemed to be that way for me when I was younger and being bullied and isolated at school. It should be that way for everyone else too. The heroes and heroines of most anime, I feel, would want us to stand up against online harassment too.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

I am into most genre fiction, recently getting back into anime as I have begun to grow out of most superhero stories and the offerings of American animation (I have also grown annoyed with the macho pandering of most video games). I go to San Diego Comic Con regularly and am trying to get on rover staff there (as well as at all the anime fan conventions I go to).

Outside of genre fiction, I am an athlete. My main sport is cross country road racing, but I try to keep myself well rounded by participating in power lifting for strength and recently tae kwon do for balance and flexibility. I wish I could cook or garden, because I do love a well made meal, even though I am constantly eating nothing but extremely healthy food (fruit, vegetables, and lean meat) most of the time.

7) What timezone do you live in?

I live in the Pacific Standard Time Zone.

8) If you have any other comments that you feel are necessary and weren't covered in the other questions, you may write them here:

I have only only question and one note. I only have a question.

Will I be able to contact or made aware of who the other Content Moderators are? I want to meet others who share my passion for making the anime, and moreover, genre fiction communities safe and inviting places for everyone to be (especially women of all colors, sizes, religions, sexual orientations, and so on).

Linked here (http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=109060930&trk=tab_pro) is my LinkedIn account. I can, also provide you with a resume that profiles my professional experience in greater detail.

Questions:

1) What skills do you possess that would make you a good candidate for this position?

I am friendly, not just to the peers and staff, but to those around me- even strangers. I am also observant, and hardworking- I thrive to do my best, for my future goals and plans and I am always cautious to my surroundings, as past experience has led me to.

I have lots of free time, during the day and I'm dedicated and determined to get the things that I want and this is one of them.

I may be inexperienced but I truly believe experience isn't always everything, sometimes hard effort and determination is what gets you through.

I'm very good at handling hard situations with a calm face and no matter what but come up with an appropriate answer, regarding Crunchyroll's rules.

2) What would your moderation style be?

To fully analyze the situation carefully, and quickly find an appropriate solution/s then take necessary actions based on the sites rules/regulations.

3) How often do you frequent the official forum categories, and do you post often?

I frequent the official forum categories daily, even up and till now as I was looking for a thread like this in particular. Also because, as I mentioned I have lots of free time in the day and I mean lots, so I frequent the forums looking for a thread I might find interesting. Though I rarely post, just here and there.

4) Have you reported inappropriate threads before? If so, how often?

Yes I have reported inappropriate threads before on several social networking sites and anime forums, at least 2-3 times but it was before I found Crunchyroll

5) What do you feel is an appropriate amount of time to spend moderating?

At max 2 hours and 30 mins a day. I personally feel though is to take as much time as you can, and not go overboard because everyone has their limits.

6) Aside from Anime, what other hobbies do you have?

My other hobbies is to draw and paint, I love art and is one of the reasons I read manga. I also like to go on social gatherings but not occasionally, just a few times in a month or so (2-3 times a month). I also love games, and RPG in particular

7) What timezone do you live in?

GMT:01:00 LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
