Would I be missing out if I read some of Naruto Shippuden instead of watching it? I'm at ep.40 right now and I just can't find the time to sit down and catch up on all the episodes.

I know some people have started reading the chapters that haven't been aired/made yet, but what about just reading the manga from the start? I do want to watch the anime though, but maybe once things get really good? And does anyone know when things start to really heat up in Naruto? Anime-wise.

I say that you are better off reading the manga if time is a factor. You'll be double booking if you did both watching and reading; that's like 20-30 minutes reading and thing 20-30 minutes watching some fillers.

I bet that you'll enjoy it more if you do ready. Well, that's just what I think based on some of the posts that I read. Well, good luck with that.

I only watch specific episodes to see chapters I really liked animated.

The manga lets me skim through the boring parts and completely skip filler, so I think it's a win/win.

The manga is better.

I like anime so I watched it until I couldn't wait to find out what's going to happen to Sasuk/Itachi. So I turned to the manga for several volumes, and then when the main storyline put the focus back on Naruto, I was like, "How anticlimatic". So now I'm back to watching the anime.

So yeah, reading the manga was definitely faster, better, and without fillers.

And you don't miss anything with the manga. The anime fillers are STUPID and irrelevant to the main story line..

You'd be missing out on the fillers.

Just kidding :P
Reading the manga for this one is probably much much better.

Naruto manga is definitely more exciting than the anime. The anime is good too but from what I've watched, all the important parts from the manga are in the anime so you won't be missing anything. You'll just get ahead of the aired episodes.

Manga > Anime imo.

There's a lot of shitty fillers lately and none of them were appealing. The fillers are pretty much irrelevant to the main story and makes little impact. Oh and is it just me or does Naruto run way too much in the current ongoing arc

The manga is getting really good at the moment. The anime has it's ups and downs (the downs being the filler episodes) so you can't really start watching from any episode. I like both the manga and the anime. The anime puts the fight scenes in a new light that the manga could not but the manga puts everyone's words and their emotions into better context. Seeing Naruto's face during some scenes completely beats the anime version of the same face. Also some things are so epic you just want to see that animated so you can watch it.

Well the fillers should be done soon, and the things happening after the fillers will be pretty epic.

I used to watch the anime all the time, till I discovered the manga. Now a days, I try reading the description to see if it a filler, if it is I just skip it till the story picks up again.
