it shouldnt be a premium only thing its unfair on the people who are not premium members i cant afford it right now and i enjoyed interacting with people on the stream its just there is to many people out there wanting to cause grief to other people. i like the idea of not being able to view the stream if the account has been say made the same day.

Would definitely help to stop the idiots trolling and give more of a reason to sub which is a good thing in my view

I'm racist against racists. I dislike anyone who trolls someone because of their race or color. Everyone is equal in my eyes.

I'm ashamed that the live feeds have come to be that way; I am happy however that action is being taken against this. Thus, I applaud you CR keep up the amazing work.

A simple counter to the cries of free speech: The First Amendment does not apply to privately owned servers, and is therefore not protected speech. (While that may be used and abused at the will of the owners, that is another matter entirely; but it is the way the law in the US works.) Also, depending on the country, hate speech may be completely illegal, regardless of the venue.

Freedom of speech is an awesome thing, but there are penalties for saying what you do. You can say whatever you want, but you can get fired, beat up, or even arrested. Don't believe me? Walk into a large airport and yell BOMB!! and see what happens to you and claim freedom of speech. That's just an extreme example and I hope no one does it, but not much surprises any more.

Regarding the A-kon thing. I couldn't bear to watch it most of the time because of most of the comments that were scrolling across my screen. Sure I can turn that off, but should I just watch people staring at a screen being insulted and walk away? The ban warning needs to be stated clearly EVERY time one of these events is streamed to CR. You cannot leave it unattended for a moment.

There are so many issues with free speech. Do we really have the right to say whatever we want? No, not really. Honestly, discretion still needs to be used in the correct situations, but the freedom of speech "right" seems to give people the idea that they really can say whatever they want. It's common courtesy and common sense that there are things that shouldn't be said in certain situations and to certain people. People can still have their opinions, but when one person is expressing their racist opinions, they're oppressing another person, yet claiming free speech thinking that allows them to get away with it.

I was really pleased that there was a live feed of the Con (Good job CR, this is worth fighting for), but totally disgusted at the live feed.
Some of those con goers may have saved up to go to the con and had their weekend ruined by the filth spewed on the live feed.

Auto censoring: DO IT.
Yes, auto censoring is problematic, but is one of the few real solutions to this problem. Have it automatically hand out 30 minute bans and flag the user for review. If it flags someone by mistake, it's not the end of the world.

Ability to comment on a live feed is a privilege that should be taken away at a moment's notice. It's not jail time or a death sentance. Get rid of the jerks.

Another idea is other users (non-mod) reporting disruptive behavior. If 4 other people think someone is a jerk, they likely are, and probably should be given a temp ban. That would take care of the also annoying "Show us your bewbz" idiots.

The main drawback I see to users reporting others is that false reports are a form of trolling, too. Some people lurk just to report people, as sad as that sounds. Granted, it can be very useful, but there is that potential problem that comes with it, too.

That is true, but this is a case where doing nothing is much worse than any potential problems with false reporting or flagged users by error.

Having a pleasant video stream for everyone and con goers not having their day ruined is more important than someone possibly maybe having their video comment spamming privilege taken away for a few minutes.

On this, I agree. Something should be done, or even a series of measures. I was only stating the one caveat I have about reporting, and that was not meant to suggest that it's a bad course of action.

So far, I'm agreeing with reporting and maybe even chat filter.
Profanity isn't completely necessary, so it wouldn't be too bad if it was removed from the site.
Reporting's also a good tactic, however I'm slightly afraid of this turning into a Yahoo Answers situation. As a member of that site, I've been reported for completely harmless questions, though, again, four people reporting as Kaldar5 suggested is the right thing to do.
I haven't seen the live feed, but just hearing about it angers me. Don't people realize how strong their words are?
Even two simple words may cause someone to lose their life due to self destruction.
Honestly, why would they verbally abuse other con-goers? Was it out of jealousy or to simply act an ass? Ignorance?
So what if someone is a different race than you? News flash, not everyone's going to have the same ethnic background as you.
Everyone should be treated fairly and with respect.

I picture banning on this page like the "Death Note."

We have a lot of Kira's around_. Maybe a lot more justified in this case. GET EM'!
