Okay, I'm going to college this fall and I'm wondering if getting a loft bed is worth the money...

Note: Loft as in the bed. I'm staying in the dorm and I already know my roomie... The lofts are for rent by the University, but at a price.

depends on what you like and how much money you have I guess..I just rent a regular apartment with a regular bed and that's all I need really.

If you want the typical college life then go for the dorm. If you are one to be easily annoyed with people you will hate the dorm. Best of luck in college!

Okay so I cant seem to read tonight. I'm done trying to give advice, as I keep misunderstanding things haha

My friends had a loft and I thought it was cool. It's a bit hard to get down or up drunk, but I guess that could be an advantage. It's easier to hide things from the RA and you have a bit more privacy. Just don't puke up there. Someone puked up there once and it smelled like green apple vodka and rotting oatmeal for many days.

I probably wouldn't get one myself if I had to go back and choose, since I sleep better closer to the ground.

Wait, do you mean a Loft as in a place to live in or a Loft bed in which to sleep in? (O__O)

If you meant the bed, then hell yeah! Those things are pretty cool. It saves allot of space. It also grants you more privacy all high up there where no one can really see. The little area under it is yours. you could even set up a curtain if you want. There are three drawbacks though, one is that you'd have to climb a latter every night & every morning. That can get annoying quick. The second is the comfort level. Make sure to invest in a nice quality mattress for it. Finally, the third issue is how ok you are with being close to the ceiling. That depends on your room but I can tell you now, if you're claustrophobic & your ceiling is short, it will be a nightmare.

Here's a few pics of a nice loft bed. I like the way the guy set his stuff up around it.

It was mandatory at my school for freshman to stay on campus for the first year. I think a lot of school have that policy. I lofted my bed in college and kept my desk under it like Mico's pic. We had a small dorm so it saved space for my roommate and me. I had a fear for a while of falling out of bed, but I never did.

Um don't most college dorm rooms come with a bed (and desk, dresser, closet)? Is your school really going to make you buy/bring your own? Maybe you should double check and make sure you actually need to bring one.

Anyways I would definitely recommend a loft, especially if it is a small room and you have a roommate. Even if you don't plan on bring much with you, trust me you will occur stuff during your year and you are going to want that storage space. Also contact your roommate as soon as you can and check with them to see what they are bringing, so you don't both bring something that can be shared like a microwave and stuff like that.

Hey, i know this is off topic but I noticed you have a tiny pic of fuu as your avatar. Idk if that's on purpose but if its because you couldn't find a bigger pic of her, i edited this one for you so that its big enough. You know, if you want it that is. ╚(•⌂•)╝

To keep with the topic, OP you should try looking around your town to see if there are more affordable lofts around. Chances are you'll find one more suited to kids though. If anything, Amazon has a "Best seller" list of loft beds to choose from. PS. never get anything used. You never know what could be in it. (e__e) Also, don't buy from Ikea. Its cheaper but so is the quality. A bed is a retreat from the constant everything that happens in the day. (ノ ◑_◑)ノA good quality one is worth it. You deserve a good bed. After all, you're going to college. Good luck OP with your dreams.

lol I just realized that my last sentence can be applied to both the future and the topic at hand. heh-heh-heh. (>ヮ<)

Um I never thought about the size before I used to use it at a different site that had stricter size limits so it kind of had to be small. But thanks for finding it.

Thanks for your input! The loft beds are lent out by the Uni for $100 for both semesters. I was just wondering if they were all they're cracked up to be.

Get a loft and a couch for under it...Your room will be where everyone wants to be but if it is too high say good bye to any chance of a sex life or to just sleep with your partner.

I can't believe they charge you for a loft though.
