Cheerios controversy
Posted 6/6/13
The fact that they had to disable the comments on the youtube video cause it was so bad just makes me upset.
It was an adorable commercial and I can't believe that even today we have to deal with racism.
It is 2013.
You think we would have done away with the stupid 1950 mindset.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Imagine what kind of a fit some people whould've thrown if it was a gay couple.

Now I want to make that commercial just to spite those people **
Someone bring me a gay couple and a box of cheerios!

I think it would be a good idea on Cheerios's part, after all there is no such thing as bad advertisement and I have noticed there are a lot more tv shows with same sex couples here lately. The idea that this even caused a controversy to begin with is just sad, I mean seriously people? If you are going to judge someone do it by who they are, not what they look like.

Of the people involved in this, I feel the most sorrow for the families of the racist detractors. They come from a position of, "Stop trying to shove your tolerance down our throats!" and then they try to raise their kids to be just as racist and intolerant of others as they are. In some cases, the indoctrination is still effective.

To be honest I kind of expected this topic to get a lot of trolling so I am surprised to find I actually like the responses so far.

I am glad Cheerios hasn't pulled the ad(yet) and instead just disabled comments. I think I would lose respect for them if they bent to any sort of pressure over this issue and pulled the ad entirely because as stated above, it is just a cute commercial. It reflects real life and anyone who is uncomfortable seeing it needs to just get over it.

i dont think anything about it. but its hilarious to me that people care that much about a damn commercial. its 2013, people need to accept that we're in a new era where being yourself as an individual is ok. the people that get hung up on biracial couples and homosexual couples need to realize that those people aren't in any way, shape, or form affecting their day to day lives in the slightest.

an in all, it was a cute commercial and im glad that general mills is backing 100% and is going to keep it on air.

^THIS!!

Just like we're seeing more and more same sex couples walking among us, so are the increasing number of so-called interracial couples. Too me the term "interracial" shouldn't even exist, because you could be talking about ANY kind of race in this universe for god sakes. Love is love, humans are humans regardless of the color.

And my girlfriend just happens to be white, and oh by the way whites and blacks aren't the only couples getting together.

The attacks are from insecure pricks who refuses to get with the times and are told on a daily basis that only certain people of certain colors can only do certain things, thus no individuality and no individual thought. Just predictable behavior and body language.

To deny two people of different colors their right to be together makes these a-holes racist themselves! But of course they won't fess it because they are that closed off from the rest of the world around them.

It only effects them because they let it. If you let it go, it won't ruin your day.

Prejudice is something that is taught. You aren't born knowing it. Considering it's 2013, you'd think people would be over this already. Heck, my marriage was interacial and not once did anyone say anything bad to me or my wife about it.

My boyfriend is half Mexican and I'm totally white, and the I've only ever received one comment (of course, there were issues with white supremacy at my high school).

A MIXED RACE COUPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Posted 6/6/13
AN ADD FEATURING A MIXED RACE COUPLE?!?!?!? BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I mean really guys? The add is adorable and funny. Trolls should go back to their caves, and the add should not be pulled. People have been mixing with each other for centuries, long, long before it was accepted (or rather, more accepted). It should not matter.

If you see the phrase 'Anti-racist is anti-white' then it's probably written by a member of Stormfront, the white-power message board and you can then disregard anything the person who mentioned as a serious point says after, since you already know they are a cunt who isn't worth your time..

I don't see why there should be any issue with a commercial showing an interracial couple.
It is a fact of life that people of all races are attracted to each other, why should there be any "controversy"
Frankly, the whole things is stupid to me.
