I like cats. As long as I can financially support them, I wouldn't mind getting one. I know if I ever live by myself I would do so.

This is mostly true, and it applies to dogs, rats, penguins, and any other kind of animal that one might want to keep as a pet. Just because you love something doesn't mean it feels the same way about you. Plus, most animals are waaaaaaay stupid. I mean, dolphins are pretty smart, but they're assholes so who cares?

I agree for the most part. I have had pet rats and such and while it seemed to like me, I am certain it would never sacrifice itself for me. Dogs on the other hand are very social creatures and do form strong bonds, so I disagree with you there. Of course I'm sure a dog's love is different than a human's, but there have been many dogs that have sacrificed themselves (such as by taking on MUCH larger predators or intruders) to save their humans. I have not heard of other domesticated animals showing the capacity for self-sacrifice.

Also, I know a few "cat people" and I have seen many, many stray cats. I have never seen them form a "pride" like you speak of. I have never read of it either. To my knowledge, lions are the only feline species that do. Other than the occasional pairing, I have not heard of other cat species such as Tigers, pumas, etc. that form social groups.

Don't say cats aren't loving. They absolutely can be.

I have had cats when I was a child. I have known dozens of people who owned cats and met hundreds of them. I have never met a loving cat. They love your food. They love your bodyheat. They don't love you. If you think they love you, you are a freaking moron. Cats do not work that way. They are biologically predatory loners. They can be conditioned, they can be cute, but they will never, ever love you. They don't have the capacity to love. They are NOT social creatures. They purr when content, but they'll purr for anyone who does their bidding. They can be conditioned to obey (to a point) but never out of love or loyalty, only out of gain or pain aversion.

Like cats if you want to. A lot of people do. But don't be so stupid as to assume that your cat is different and loving when it is simply not in their nature. They are born and bred solitary predators. Just as the scorpion stung the frog, cats cannot love a human.

No need to be condescending, dood.

Anyways, I still think cats can have some love for some humans. Love to some degree. It isn't the same as a strong love a person can have for another person. But I have a cat right now that I have a good, close bond with. The cat likes to come see me daily. It likes to be by my side often. It is fond of me and I think it genuinely has an appreciation for me. I wouldn't think it doesn't have a shred of love in its being. You have some crazy, deep hatred for cats. I don't know why. You are overboard with it. Clearly you have a bias against cats. You are convinced that no cats can have any love for any humans. Okay, so be it. I'll tell you, though, I had a cat I had a real close, tight bond with before. I had a great companionship with him. And my cat I have now, I have a good, close bond with and a great companionship with him, too. And I've never had a dog that liked and cared for me nearly as much as these two cats. The only time any dog has ever really liked me is when either I walked through a front door (where it wagged its tail and greeted me before immediately walking away and plopping down on the ground), or when I was eating food that smelled really good. That is it, those are the only times any dogs have really liked me. But I guess cats are no good and dogs are the most glorious things in the world.

I love cats!!! My sister had a cat when she was little, but when I ask for one my mom and dad say no. And on top of that I break out in hives when I'm around them...... turns out the reason why I break out in hives is because I'm allergic to cats!!

Dogs are a man's best friend.
"The best friend most people have is their dog on your dog for friendship you can depend
Than your ever devoted canine you cannot have a better friend
Your dog will never forsake you he or she will be your friend for life
A dog's love you can rely on far more than the love of your wife,
There are so many stories of dog devotion risking their lives loved ones to save
When people they love are in danger dogs can be unbelievably brave
They've been known to save people from drowning and they've been known to save people from fire
They do not expect reward for their loyalty so much in them for to admire
Yet some do treat their dogs quite badly cruelty to animals is a serious crime
And perhaps for such an offence a good deterrent would be at least a year of jail time
Any dog is not born to be vicious 'tis their masters who make them this way
A cruel owners makes a dog dangerous that does seem a sad thing to say
Since dogs to us can be so loyal your dog to you can be your best friend
Your wife may decide for to leave you but your dog will stay with you till the end."
