When I was a kid I'd go to the library every chance I got, check out as many books as possible during each visit (the limit changed over the years, it was 5 at one point and then it dropped to 3 later on), and read them as fast as I could so I could go back and get a few more.
Now I mostly buy my books. I'd love to have my own little library in my home one day, but unless you get most of your books used that gets expensive.
The difference in why is because of a few things, the main one being location. All my childhood I lived less than a mile away from the library and could easily walk there without much trouble at all. Then at one point they moved the library and I moved out of town, and now there are a good amount of miles between us. I could probably still walk it, bike it, or get a ride (I don't drive), but I'm not a huge fan of the new library anyways (they got rid of the towering shelves filled with books, a basement area just for kids, and now have more computers and other tech, making it seem less like a library and more like a weird office-like atmosphere).

there's been studies and such that show what's on those library books, I'll take my chances and just buy books which sound interesting. so many germs and diseases, yikes.

~ o,..,o ~ I rather own my own books, and if the electrical grid goes down one day, books will be all we have for info on things. There are things going on is space and on our planet that tell me i have to think of other ways to preserve knowledge. Relying on net may not be wise.

I preferably would have my Own Book's that I had bought because it's way more easier than going to the library standing there trying to find the right book that you want, then after finding the ONE go home read, thus right after you are done reading you go all the way to the library again and Repeat ,it's better to enjoy the one you bought and chill-axing with a nice cup of tea. .

I only went to the library when my life was in storage for 4 years on the other side of the country.
Now I have my books and the rest of my memories.

I do not mind either option, but I prefer to purchase and own my books. I will have to locate new libraries here in DeKalb, as the one Library I would regularly visit is now closed. I have an interest to purchase and collect older and out of print books that are rare, but I unfortunately do not have the money.
