Nope, they don't know a thing about it. Even though I love my parents to death, they can be so lame sometimes.

It's best, if i just keep it to myself. My brother kinda knows, but he doesn't really care.

So just a little poll for everyone to answer, I do know that some friends their parents are pretty reluctant to them being Otaku's SO I thought I"d ask YOU Crunchyroll's finest!!!

As for me, my parents know I am an Otaku but they don't give a single shnitzel about it!

my mom knows and she's okay with it. she's always taking me to the city so i can buy manga anime actions figures wall scrolls etc. it's great to be honest (ヘ。ヘ)

I'm surprised that a majority said their parents do accept them.My parents know I watch anime but always annoy me about it.And I always pause whatever anime I'm watching when they enter my room, cause they always misunderstand. It really gets on my nervous :frustrated:

Hahaha honestly thought there would be quite a bit more "They don't know.". With that being said it would be awesome to have parents that will just accept w/e you are into. I haven't lived at home for a while but I remember how much crap I used to get from my parents playing WoW all the time so I imagine anime would elicit similar reactions.

But me and my brother grew up in south Texas in a working-class house and pretty much were playing sports even when we didn't want to so that probably makes a difference too..

They don't know.
It's not that I hide it... I just don't like to talk to people about things that they don't care about.
I do have good relationships with my parents, I just know that they're not into it, so I'm not going to waste their time and my breath.

My parents have the rule as long as all my grades are A and don't cause them trouble then they don't care what I do.

My mother is one of those people who love watching Teen Mom and Real Housewives; she's also apparently proud to be "white and American".... yeah, she's very close-minded and ignorant.

So no, she doesn't like me being an otaku.

Her excuse: she doesn't like anything Japanese because people in Asia eat cats and dogs.
I really don't like my mother as a person.

My parents didn't like it, though my mom was more intolerant than my dad. My dad would just shake his head and "listen" if I really wanted to talk about it, though really he'd just space out. He never complained about my wanting to go to conventions and all, though always encouraged me to "start dressing like a girl" because I never cosplayed females. My mom would always call it immature, interrupt me during watching or reading, purposely distract me while I worked on cosplays, pressured me quite a bit to only cosplay women, would never DREAM of buying me anything anime or even Japanese related, and always had nasty comments about conventions and how stupid my interests were. We never got along as kids.

This lasted since I was like 13 until I went to college. Now that I live on my own and own my own house, she doesn't say anything about it other than one comment about me "finally growing up" since I'm on a shoestring budget while the federal government furloughs me. Now that I mention anime and manga, she has nothing to say about it.

One of my friends has a mom who is into it too and buys her all sorts of anime, manga, drama CDs, posters, merch, etc. I'm so jealous!
