I wish more female characters had abs. D:
I mean like, isn't roughly 30~40% of the fighting force in anime female anyway? Why aren't more of them equipped with a six pack?

It has to do with the people anime is primarily marketed to. Notable (well, familiar more like) examples of heroines with muscular body types, but not necessarily six packs include:

Rebecca (Revy) from Black Lagoon
Balsa Yonsa from Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
Arturia Pendragon (Saber) from Fate/Stay Night
Birdy Cephon Altera from Birdy the Mighty: Decode
Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell

Anyway, another piece of fanart:

I like Annie...

it's all about female heroine and their abs now, and not male protagonist and their man-boobs.

I love the fact our lead heroine in a shonen has abs! It's so refreshing and backs up the fact Mikasa's such a powerful fighter.

I was really impressed by how much physical strength and tenacity they gave her character. She didn't use the sort of deflective techniques you usually see given to female fighters or martial artists - she was extremely dextrous, but she'd match you stroke for stroke before breaking your face.

Those are some hot abs, the only thing that would disgust me is if she had some huge biceps...

If only they'd adapted the rest of the novels. The second book where she returns to her homeland to confront her past would have been cool to see. The books are labeled as children's literature, but I wouldn't mind a darker adaptation of the work.

On a side note, I loved her English and Japanese voice actresses -- both did the character justice.
