Well....I don't know....

II found that the PS4's free games only work with a paid subscription. If you had an emergency and couldn't afford to renew, your free games are inaccessible.

If you're talking about playstation+ , you don't get free games unless you have PS+ in the first place.
Without PS+ you buy the games from the store or PSN just like with the PS3.
If you download and install a PS+ free game, you also get to keep it and play it even if your subscription expires until the game is uninstalled. Xbox doesn't give you free games period.

If you're talking about free to play games, you do not require PS+ for them.

That's the other way round, if your PS+ sub runs out you can no longer play the "free" games they give you, on X360 though you can play the games regardless if you keep your sub up or cancel it.

Multiple people with PS+ accounts have claimed you can play free games from plus so long as you have them installed on the PS3. Of course they may be wrong. I do know that games purchased with a PS+ Discount are permanent though.

Regardless, as far as I know X360 and X1 does not provide free games with a gold subscription period, unless you have a source for that.

Neither requires a subscription for playing games you buy.

X360 2 free games a month if you are subbed.

http://www.el33tonline.com/post/2013/06/21/microsoft-provides-new-details-regarding-free-xbox-live-gold-games/

and they are yours to keep forever even if you don’t renew your Gold membership.

Do I lose access to my PlayStation Plus games if my subscription expires?

You can keep any content you pay for on top of your sunscription fee, such as a game downloaded at a special offer price, and you can keep using all games downloaded at no extra cost as long as you remain subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

Microsoft
“As our way of saying thanks, we’re giving all active Gold members two bonus Xbox 360 games each month for the rest of the year. Each specially selected, fan-favourite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what.”

This isn't the same thing as PS+, this is a giveaway that unless they've said otherwise elsewhere, only lasts until the end of 2013. It also only says it is for Xbox 360.

PS+ includes free games for PS4 and PS3 as part of the standard package, the commenters I mentioned who said otherwise were wrong, you don't keep them forever if they're part of the free instant game collection.
If they're purchased at a discounted price while subscribed to PS+, they stay forever.

As the giveaway is only X360 games, which are not compatible with X1, this means the original poster I replied to was indeed mistaken in implying you get free Xbox One games unless Microsoft has stated otherwise.

Maybe he was referring to the free game the Xbox One day one ships with, Fifa or Forza.

Maybe, but then that's just part of the day one edition bundle more than anything else, it's the same as the PS4s with Killzone, or Assasins Creed bundled together and what not.

The Xbox One admitedly looks pretty cool, however I think the PS4 looks much better. It doesn't hurt that I pretty much grew up with Playstation and theres a bit of *cough* bias in there but whatever Ill get both eventually PS4 just comes first ^^

Playstation 4 will probably have the larger number of Japanese games (and a larger number of localized Japanese games from companies like NIS, etc.) My plan is to wait years until someone I know wants to sell theirs for around the price that they'd get from selling it to a game store.

Cool, this is why competition is great, they needed to add value to a gold subscription and compete directly with ps+, and the consumer wins out by getting more out of the subscription they generally need anyway.

They added enough value for me when they said all games get dedicated servers for multiplayer on Xbox One.

I got a ps4 games look damn good since they get rendered at 1080p with 60fps which is awesome on a console!! I will be getting an Xbox one but I don't like the fact that they render games still at 720p with 30fps come on that's the stuff we got with 360 and ps3 but the Xbox One is still not going to be my favorite to buy which in my opinion the games look unappealing dr3 looks fantastic but I know it will still play the same as the first 2 which where fun but got boring quick forza is forza as for ryse looks good and then there's titan fall next year now that looks damn good! I own most games that came out for the ps4 so I won't be getting cod or bf4 on the old box one
