Cool

I have tried Saiunkoku 1st episode before, I vaguely remember the reverse harem-ish romance introduction put me off a little. Maybe I was too rash for judging it based on just that, gonna try it again. Thanks.

Nah, trust me. Though there are a lot of guys, they don't all fall in love with the main character. And the main girl is really strong, smart, head-on-shoulders type. It is a reverse harem, but focuses on a ton of political things and fantasy over romance, though there is romance.

Another vote for Twelve Kingdoms. A gorgeous, dark, highly unappreciated show.

Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ & Ookami-san.

Both are amazing!! I just hope J.C. makes a S2 for Ookami-san. It really deserves it!!

I actually liked it, lol.

Hmmm....

Hard one for me. I like a lot of stuff people are posting here.

I'll settle on Da capo. (The original).

It was one of the first visual novel based animes I ever watched and really led me into an interest in visual novel based animes.

Boogiepop Phantom.
It's a series that doesn't give you all the answers.
You have to rewatch it and be familiar with the previous story "Boogiepop and Others" to get a grasp of it.

The unique grainy look to it added to the bizarre happenings in the series.

After watching hundreds of anime with strong female characters, I still think Nagi Kirima is one of the most bad ass characters.

School Days

It takes a genre (harem) and totally takes A NEW DIRECTION WITH IT!

I love that it is original, and does not follow the same basic script for the harem genre

Unpopular as in not popular over seas or not popular in both japan and over seas?

Well I really like the english dub of Ghost Stories because they abridged the crap out of that show and it was hilarious.

Well, I really liked Shakugan no Shana, but I'm not sure if that was unpopular. I never see anybody talk about it. But, anyways, I liked it for it's superb action and great characters, plus the third season was amazing, really tying up the story in a way that I didn't expect.

I thought it was a funny direction. Usually when they make animes based on dating sims they take one heroine, and make the anime about a good route for her. In this one they pretty much thought, lets see what happens if we combine all the worst routes from every heroines' story. I haven't played School Days myself, but I did check out some of the bad endings, and they are very bloody just like the anime. I thought it was refreshing, I dropped Mashiro-iro Symphony and Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate because they were pretty much going through one straight stupid good route.

I like when girls go psychopathically wild in animes, makes for good entertainment.
