Wow this game is stupidly unforgiving. 100 cools, 100 goods, but 12 bads and 8 awfuls, on easy, doesn't let you pass. Forget it, I'm not shelling out my money for this shit

I think of it as a challenge.

A game should not demand near perfection, on easy. Easy is supposed to be, well easy. Then when you master easy you go to normal, than hard, than really hard. That's just good game design

The learning curve is pretty high on this game but I let it slide because it's a Japanese rhythm game. They're all quite difficult. I remember I used to play DDR many years ago and the american version was altered to make it easier to pass the songs.

i think it's as hard as it is now because most of the PD fanbase got hooked early on and wanted it to become more challenging seeing as the previous titles on the PVP were actually REALLY easy for the most part until you did a few songs on Hard and EXTREME.

the first Project Diva game only had Easy, Medium, and Hard and not the EXTREME difficulty seen in Project Diva 2nd, Extend, Arcade, f, and F. Also, Easy Mode in PD1 and 2 only featured 1 button that u had to mash less than 100 times a minute, which is REALLY slow and unappealing. Extend had a considerably harder Normal and Easy difficulty due to the demand from the veteraned jap consumers.

also i may be wrong but i think PD1 only needed a passing rate of 70 or 75%, been a while since i've played it ._.

if u think about it, there may be a problem with the americans trying to get a grip on themselves when trying to pass the easy difficulty on F when it was tweaked specifically for the huge fanbase in japan, most of who have already played past PD games. so even though the japanese may not think Easy is hard at all and a breeze, the average westerner may be a bit behind and frustrated

This may be true for the project diva games but DDR I remember was really hard from the first Japanese one. Miss 4 steps and you're done.

Just stick with the game!! It is tons of fun once you get over the learning curve. I first learned how to play the game on the arcade version because I never had a PSP. It was tough especially with the controller since I had to learn how to read the notes and get used to the button arrangement (and spend roughly $1USD per play).

Just waiting for the demo here in the UK - I've seen nothing on PSN yet, but I'm checking every hour or so. I'm way too excited for this...

It was in Taiwan when I studied abroad there a year and a half ago. They did have a few Project Diva Arcade cabinets in southern california recently for a few months for a location test, but I'm not sure if they kept the cabinets afterward.

Since I learned on the arcade game I'm more used to those controls than the original playstation button layout. I like the arcade version because it had parts where you had to hit multiple buttons at once and it was a bit harder because they were two different notes instead of two buttons in the same direction. It also had holds where you had to keep one note pressed while hitting other notes.

I had picked up the Japanese version of this just a few weeks ago (that's always my luck, I import something and then they announce it's getting localized!)

I had a rough time, but it's been quite some time since I picked up a rythym game of any type. This one was vastly difference as the button prompts were everywhere and I was trying to pay attention to way too much at the same time.

I also did it on normal and still passed the only song I played lol, hit the ground running!

When I first played it I was like "Wow, this is hard". Totally ignoring the help loading screen, I was playing the game thinking that you needed to not only hit the corresponding button but that I had to match the direction that the little arrow was with the analog stick when it was time to hit it. Then I realized that it was always pointing up when you had to press it. Then I realized you didn't have to do that and that they were just there to help you time it without having to rely solely on following the shapes flying across the screen. After actually paying attention to the help screen I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Hardest song for me is "Weekend Girl" and "Worlds End Dance Hall", I can only manage to get Great. Not my typical game but it sure is addicting. I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out.
