I'm from California and my friend who's from Michigan always assumed we Californians know how to swim. Her reaction was quite amusing when I told her that almost no one here can swim.

I live in The Netherlands, and when I tell people that I live there the first thing they say is: ''Then you should be smoking alot of weed eh?''

Hmmm, really no.

I used to live in California. I moved to Florida about 5 years ago. When I told people where I was from, they assumed that I have met a bunch of celebrities, that I can surf well, and swim. None of those are true.

Now, when I tell people that I live in Florida, they assume that I live next to Disney World and Universal Studios. I'm about an hour away. They also assume that I go to the beach every day. I haven't been there in months. Plus, I live at least 45 minutes away.

Wow, I always thought that people who live in NY probably wouldn't have money issues. Well now I know better.
Really didn't expect that. oO.

Well, if you told me that you live in The Netherlands, I'd think, "Oh cool, that's where the band Within Temptation comes from!", which is one of my favorite bands of all time.

SoCal. Best place on earth and I never plan to move away from here. When people hear I'm from California they automatically assume that I know how to surf. Only like a fourth of people down here surf and no I am not one of them

A fourth? Maybe 1/4 of the people who live within walking distance of the beach, even that's extremely optimistic.
I've only personally known a handful of people who have ever surfed, and none that have done it more than a few times.

Only two people I know can't swim and they're both Mexican. Much like black people, they don't often do swimming. Not saying they all don't, all the others I know are fine with it.

I'm from Utah. And usually people just assume we're Mormon. No questioning whatsoever. They just say "oh, cool, so you're LDS." My family and I aren't religious at all.
I don't know if it's true, but I've heard people also think polygamy is a big thing here, too. All though there are polygamists still active, most Mormons usually aren't polygamists...
I also don't know if I should confirm this as true, but people also believe Mormons here have horns. Legitimate horns sprouting out of their heads... What's wrong with people.

If there were anywhere else I would ever live besides SoCal it would hands down be Florida. And if you are only an hour away you kinda are right next to disneyworld haha

I live in Vermont, in one of the most populated parts of it too. People automatically think that I can or have downhill skied since we usually get a lot of snow in winter, which I never have and never plan on doing. I hate heights and fast speeds. I have cross-country skied a few times back when I was in High School and it wasn't that bad. People also automatically assume that I have seen the Lake Champlain monster Champ, which I have never seen the real one, though it was my High School's mascot and the mascot of the state baseball team.
