I don't believe The Last of Us deserves the 10 out of 10 scores it's getting, I think it deserved 8/10. This story driven game is hardly GOTY worthy, the gameplay is lacking and I find that to be the most important thing to a game. Don't get me wrong the Movie was very good, I actually liked the ending but at the end of the day it brought nothing new to gameplay mechanics.

This game is probably one of the best console games I've played in YEARS! I'm not a console person, I usually play games on the PC since I'm a PC gamer but damn this game kind of switch me back to my roots. I'm now actually buying a lot of exclusive PlayStation games just because of this game bringing me back.

I wish more developers would follow the path of Naughty Dog too bring something new on the table unlike many developers nowadays just recycling the same crap. If you didn't buy this game, I recommend it to the fullest. If you don't have a PS3, borrow from a friend or buy a used one. That's how serious this game is.

Within 15 minutes of the game, I was stunned on how amazing the environments were and the acting of the characters that draws you in. The sounds/music was superior and of course the story made you happy/sad and scared.

I just finished it today. I thought it was an excellent game, though very depressing.

Its worth the 10's its been getting. Its a video game, its meant to be gamey. Its also meant to draw you in at the important parts. It does so flawlessly. If your immersion is broken by having to go get a box, which isn't that big of a deal in the first place, then the game isn't for you.

I on the other hand am fully immersed.

This is the attitude that keeps us from getting true 10/10 games

No it isn't. What you want is real life simulated in a game. That won't happen. This game delivers an emotional experience like none other. It gives you characters that could very well be real. It gets you attached to the characters and makes you care about their fate. Then it pits you in the middle of it all to say, "Try to make it to the end."

If you aren't impressed then I don't know what to tell you. I've been playing games since I was 3 back on the NES and I've never played a game like this that made me care about the characters since Final Fantasy 7. The fact that I was upset in the first 10-15 minutes is a no brainer at how well done this game is. I didn't care that I had to go get a crate. I know the segment you were talking about and that was way too high to boost Ellie without a crate.

They mostly break up gameplay segments with situations like that to queue you off to 'hey, go look for supplies you're going to need it.'

Ok first, the crate part was with Tess and Ellie and being that Joel is taller than the crate, well then Tess could of easily been boosted up and pull Joel up like she did, what, 5 times before?

Second, the first 10-15 minutes was completely predictable for no other reason than she(you know who I mean) was obviously not in the rest of the game.

I don't want real life, but that's what the game is trying to be, a real world portrayal of what the end of the world could be like, complete with believable characters and situations. Which is fine, but then don't stick in moments that scream, "HEY!!! You, yeah you. You're playing a game right now!!!"

I'm not arguing that the characters aren't good, it's definitely the best part of the game, but it's the actual game that I have a problem with.

Stealth is completely overpowered, especially with the Batman Arkham City detective mode. Stealth is just as easy on Hard as it is on easy. Why? Because their idea of difficulty is the same as most games, make enemies spongier and ammo scarcer. Which is fine if you're running and gunning, but why would you do that when the shooting mechanics are the worst part of the game and, as I said, Stealth is overpowered. The AI isn't smarter, you can still one hit KO the same things on hard as easy.

That being said it's a game that I'm glad I played, but it's not worth $60 imo and it certainly isn't worth buying a system specifically for, though no 12-15 hour game is. Especially when the generation is coming to a close and that money is better saved for your next gen system of choice, then get the game over Gaikai next year for $20

What character did you guys like teaming up with the most?
I liked teaming up with bill. He was really awesome and amusing even though he was a huge jerk. I liked his story arc too I guess.

^ Bill was indeed pretty awesome. I'd love to see some DLC exploring the nature of their relationship and how Joel helped him out in the past.

I just went out and bought this game because everyone was so hyped up about it last year and it won many GOTY awards. Also a lot of people say that it's better than Infinite, yada, yada, yada... I'm a few hours in, escorting Ellie to wherever we're going along with Tess... I know the game has just started but it's pretty bland.. the colour palette doesn't pop, the music doesn't draw you in, some of the script and the voice acting is terrible (like the solders say the stupidest things and they're so loud), the combat feels something like that 50 Cent game from last generation, on top of all of that, the game looks like shit, the character designs look about as interesting as the inside of a wedding cake and the textures on everything looks overdone, I'm not a fan of any of it... the story better be good (not cliche, like when his daughter died, I saw that coming from a mile away) because what I'm dealing with right now is overall boring and unimmersive. Just now, I was in this room full of clickers and Tess and Ellie are running and brushing up against them like nothing. And I can't stand the bits where you have to find a box to climb over the simplest of things that don't even require a box to climb over them, LAME. This game got a 10/10? Lol... right now it feels like a mediocre 7/10... although I will give my final thoughts once I have actually finished the thing. Let me tell you though, I'm grinding my teeth.

Update; I'm in these train tunnels and you can't see f**k all, seriously, some of this lighting at the start is pretty bad...

Update; so we're leaving Bill's place eh and this GMC Sierra that comes with a 4L60-E... well Bill tells Ellie to start it by popping the clutch... on an automatic transmission! On top of that, Joel just popped a cassette tape into the CD player...

Okay so after beating the thing, I still don't see how this won GOTY.
This game is certainly not worthy of all of the praise it has gotten.
As I mentioned before, the game looks like crap, all of the textures look like they were overdone.
The music was super generic, I can't recall even one soundtrack from the game and that's bad considering that I just bought it yesterday and finished it today.
The two main characters are not very original, they're just rip-offs of Hugh Jackman/Ellen Page type characters..
The combat was really boring; there's a room of guys patrolling on rails, you take them out, grab some stuff, move on to the next arena of infected or soldiers or whatever. Wash, rinse, repeat.
The button layout was weird, I often found myself pressing triangle to climb or melee, the reload button should not be the same as the fire button, cycling through weapons in the middle of combat was more annoying than it should have been.
The story was cliched as I had feared, nothing mind blowing.
The ending was anti-climatic.

The deer hunt was my favourite part. The giraffes were cool, other than those two things the character of Ellie is probably the only redeeming factor for this game, her dialogue was just about the only thing that they really nailed.
At best, this game is a 7 out of 10.
I'm gunna list it on Craig's List because I'd like to get some of my money back, there's really no reason why I should keep this game lying around. I wish that I never even bought it in the first place. GOTY... lol, I was very disappointed.

Bioshock Infinite was leaps and bounds better than this.
And if you want a genuine thrill fest/zombie story with real characters, checkout The Walking Dead by Telltale Games, they did it much better.

Does that have to do with the DLC? I was gunna play it because I thought the download that came with the game was a season pass but it was just a pass for the multiplayer. Anyway, there was no way that I was gunna spend another dollar on this game so I said F' it.
