Hi guys! So I'm thinking about going to NDK this year. I've never been to an anime convention though. Is NDK a good time? Tell me about your experiences at NDK. What can I expect to do there? and heck, If i decided to do a cosplay, what do you think I should go as?

I've been going to NDK since about 2008, I believe. This was also my very first con, and I have always enjoyed every visit there. It is getting pretty big though, so the lines are pretty obnoxious. But, there's lots to do and much fun to be had! There's a gaming room to play casually or competitions to join in, a rave, some times there's DDR or Rock Band. Some panels have some anime to watch and there's amv contests, too. The cosplay contest is pretty neat to watch, too. So, yeah. Lots and lots of stuff.

As far as cosplay goes, just cosplay your favorite character from any where and have fun with it. If you're into raves, maybe bring some rave gear for Saturday night (at least I'm assuming the rave will be Saturday night). I hope you have fun at your first NDK! :3

My sister wants to go, but I'm a bit scared of her attending without me. So maybe, for Saturday

If you go to a convention is it weird to not wear a costume? I was thinking about going to NDK but I'm pretty new to the anime scene and colorado.

I'm planning on either going as a generic State Alchemist or as Commander Amarao from FLCL haha. Hope to see you there! We can be noobs together. haha

Many people attend fan conventions without any sort of costume. A lot of us lack the money and time to create one, and some of us just aren't interested in costumes. Don't worry about it.

Also, you might benefit from reading general advice about con-going. I think a good principle is "be prepared, but don't worry too much." Bring comfortable shoes, weather appropriate clothes, cash, healthy portable snacks, portable entertainment (a gaming system and/or a card game), and a good attitude. Make sure you know the layout of the con area. Budget your money carefully. And of course, make sure to shower, eat decent food, and get enough sleep.

For me, I just come in street clothes. To get there I take light rail. The belleview station is right behind the hotel. If you register by August 18 you can get a weekend pass for $40. Make sure your electronics are fully charge each day. For follow 3DS owners cons are a great place to streetpass.
