Opinion on the Wii U?
Posted 6/17/13
As a Wii U owner, I will say it's a pretty damn good console for what it's worth. It's quite a powerhouse, and it has the best console internet browser and Netflix to date. Not to mention that Miiverse is a very nifty and polite community for finding out help for games or just socializing. The deals on the eShop are very fair too. C'mon. Super Metroid for 99 cents. Gold mine.

It's pretty lackluster in it's game roster right now, but with stuff like Mario 3D World, Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, the new Donkey Kong Country, Sonic Lost World, Wind Waker HD, Rayman Legends, Bayonetta 2 and Pikmin 3 on the horizon, I can say the Wii U will be booming this holiday/spring season.

Honestly I bought my Wii U for, and soley for, Bayonetta 2. It was one of those "hmmm Wii U looks kinda interesting so maybWHAT BAYONETTA 2!? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY."

But honestly though the potential for the thing is pretty big, but it's really up to the developers if they can (or will even try) to develop for it. Though it's still "behind" the Wii had it's fair share of gems, I don't see that being any different for the Wii U.

A lot of people are saying that the system is doomed but, in all fairness that's what everyone said about the 3DS when it launched so.....we'll just have to see how it's faring down the line.

My first impression was that it was a bit underpowered for a next-gen and the controller looked like an oversized portable. After much convincing my friends got me to pick one up and I have never been so pleasantly surprised about a console. It is unbelievably smooth and though the controller can take a bit to get used to the potential it has puts just about every other controller I have ever used to shame. The only thing that is dragging the console down is a lack of games, but with a new smash bros, mario kart, and some of the other games shown at E3, this is getting addressed.

I bought one just for MH3U. I've been enjoying it so far and I'm looking forward to Smash, Mario Kart and Zelda. However, I wouldn't call it a powerhouse. I get fps drops in MH everytime I hit more than one monster. Even just navigating the Wii U's menu felt slow. I'm sure I'll enjoy it much more when more games come out, but right now I guess it hasn't really wowed me.

Actually for how large the gamepad is and how clunky it looks, it's actually surprisingly comfortable.
