I've been having issues for the past week or so involving newer videos being released. None of this season's programs are streaming in HD. (Even if you watch those shows days after release). Older shows seem to play in HD perfectly fine.

So, I see what you mean.
However, for me the videos started out at a lower resolution and then after 30 seconds or so bumped up to a higher resolution.
Is this happening for you?

I went ahead and watched about five minutes of a recently aired program. The resolution seemed to be running at 720p, but the status bar stayed at two bars.

The status bar is based on bitrate not resolution. It is possible that it is playing 720p with a low enough bitrate to not add a bar.

Well, almost all of the shows that have released in the past two weeks has had the issue.

We're working on a better way to indicate what resolution the video is streaming in.
