Microsoft has removed used game restrictions and 24 hour check in. I for one am now considering buying an Xbone. Still requires kinect, but I can just throw a towel over it. Thoughts?

yup, just heard about it. just goes to show that angry joe was right in saying that drm was easy to get rid of as opposed to what major nelson would like us to think. it's just silly that they did it after E3 instead of during it. because of that, sony got a huge upper hand. didn't think they'd reverse their policies so quickly though. they spent a good month telling everyone how the new drm was good for the users. just goes to show that it was all for profit.

i'm still considering the ps4 over the xbone though. at $100 cheaper with PS+ benefits, it's a steal. not to mention it's got the better hardware (i'm talking gpu here.)

This.

The fact that they were so greedy is annoying by itself, but also their system is still more for less.
PS4 here, regardless of what X decides to do.

Edit : Not to mention the whole kinect thing is creepy as hell...

Too little too late. Microsoft showed their true colors and what they want with the future of gaming. I've been an Xbox fanboy for 12 years but I'm keeping my PS4 on pre-order.

Score one for the gamers. Now if we can just get them to rename the console...

This.

If they ever offer a non-kinect version I might consider getting one in a few years.

Eh it really doesn't effect me. the problems that I had with the console are still there but I still plan on picking one up.

But the PS+ benefits are literally what Xbox 360 has had for years, it isnt anything new. The only thing I could give PS+ is the fact for the games you get for free but Microsoft has just done the same thing so they're basically equal, same price, same perks. Both also have the same flaw where as PS+ you cant have the games if you stop playing and Xbox 360 the games wont work at the end of the year. I have both systems but play Xbox more due to it being my preference ( mulitplayer, party chat[ Once PlayStation gets party chat you'll see why its a big deal, games).I prefer the Xbox controller but I'm leaning towards the PlayStation only because of that whole kinect thingy, nothing else really bothered me. Hopefully they'll drop that and everything will be fine.

considering that PS+ will give gamers 1 free PS4 game a month is a huge advantage over Live. that's honestly the tipping point for me. Not to mention that PS+ in this generation is leagues ahead of Xbox Live Gold. It's a bonus, rather than a requirement. Though, to be fair, multiplayer is going behind the paywall in PS4. However, programs like Netflix and Crunchyroll can still be accessed without having PS+.

Read this article for more reasons why PS+ is superior to Xbox Live Gold (at least in terms of this generation): http://www.noobfeed.com/blog_infos/view/3804

EDIT: Also, I own both consoles. 360 and PS3. and i honestly have had better bang for my buck with PS+ over Gold.

Not sure if you realized this but that was posted on "01 Feb 2013". PS+ will be required to play online games. And xbox has started to give out 2 free games a month as I stated before, both are doing the same things now. Though you are right about needing to be on live to watch netflix and crunchyroll, im not sure is ps+ is the same way. Also another thing xbox has it that when you purchase a new game you get 48-15 days free for xbox live just for purchasing. Family plan is also good because you're basically paying 5 for your whole family and that included on the xbox one, as they stated, as a family you can share games, which means only one person needs to purchase it o__o.

http://techcrunch.com/2013/06/10/microsoft-fires-back-at-sony-with-free-game-downloads-for-xbox-live-gold-gamers/

http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/19/4446308/xbox-one-family-sharing-plan-cloud-library-price-cut-plans
"Microsoft had also outlined a family sharing plan that would have allowed each user to share their library of Xbox One games with up to 10 family members. "

I'm still going with the playstation unless kinect issues are fixed.

you're totally right about the family share plan being awesome. if that was the case for ps+ that would be awesome for people who have more than one person playing on one xbone console. and yes, i knew about multiplayer going behind the pay wall in ps4. i actually said as much in my previous post. o: and i didn't hear about xbox live gold members getting triple A game titles for free like PS+, i'll have to look into that. just fyi, deus ex human revolution is free to download for ps+ members this month. infamous and other games were offered in previous months o:

and also, since the full 180, like you, i'm iffy about the integrated kinect.

Screw it. I've already had it with Microsoft when one employee wrote on twitter "Don't like always-on xbox? DEAL WITH IT." in reply to xbox fans (like myself). Also, when one of microsoft's people at E3 said if you don't like the always-on xbox then you should buy a 360. I mean effin' REALLY?!?!?! You're telling me, a hardcore xbox 360 fan, that if I don't like what your next console is offering (which I was so excited about this next-gen before all of this) then I shouldn't buy it and keep my 360???

Yeah, I don't care anymore what they reverse or whatever. I've put thousands of dollars (literally) into my xbox360/accessories/games. I even dealt with the stupid three rings of death three times, having to send it in repeatedly even when I got a new game for my bday and had to wait a month to ship it to get fixed. So I'm done. Nintendo even gained my respect by saying this about used games policy, "The answer to the used games debate? Just make such a great game that nobody wants to sell it."

So screw off microsoft, you aren't getting my money this generation. PS4 baybehhhhhhhhhh!!!!

This is it right here, Microsoft really created a PR nightmare for themselves over the last month that turning off a few things won't be the end of that. They really tarnished their own image here and they're gonna have to crawl through the mud like Sony did with the launch of the PS3.

Glad someone agrees. ^ I worked in the hot, scorching heat during the summers and used most of that money to go towards buying games and accessories for my xbox 360. I literally LOVED my 360. Heck, I should've sued having to send in my xbox THREE FRICKIN" times. But no, they fixed it and had a great gaming library so I held back the anger. But after being told to 'DEAL WITH IT!' and to stick with my 360, they can suck these gaming nuts while I pour thousands of hard-earned money into my new PS4!!!!
