Hey guys just wondering about Bandai leaving the US. As you all know Bandai officially stopped releasing discs to the US as of March this year. That make me wonder if other studios in the US will be able the license or sub-license the series for release in the US - such as Funimation or Sentai Filmworks.

My biggest concern is of course the mini series - Code Geass: Akito the Exiled and if that will ever be released to the states. Manga Entertainment in the UK licensed the Code Geass series and well as the mini series. They have also released the whole series out on blu ray which I am quite jealous of XD

Cant get enough of Code Geass XD

At Anime Boston, Sunrise said that they are in negotiations with Sentai and Funimation about bringing back their titles to North America. Code Geass is one of Sunrise's titles so I would say that odds are good that it will eventually be licensed again.

And I think Code Geass: Akito the Exiled will be licensed in North America eventually as well.

I really hope Lelouch of the Rebellion and Akito the Exiled gets licensed in the US really soon . I wish the manga Code Geass: Shikoku No Renya would get translated and be available in the states for purchase as well..........Code Geass: Oz the Reflection. I love Code Geass </3

So if Sentai gets it, we might see it back on CR...with season 2?

Seeing CR get Usagi Drop back, you never know.

Sentai has their own Streaming service called the Anime Network so I doubt it'll be on here. Also, Usagi Drop is by NIS America if I'm not mistaken not Sentai. NIS has quite a few titles on here.

I'd like to see someone not named Aniplex get it. I dropped $125 for Gurren Lagann last month and I don't wanna do that for every Bandai show I want.

As long as there's a market, someone will license it.

Well I don't care if it gets to the US because I live in the UK.

You're gonna hate me for this but look at my lovely Blu-rays.

You could always get a modded Blu-ray player and import it, that's what I do for American releases.

Beez did have it but they went under so now it is released by KAZE UK in conjunction with Manga UK.

CR also gets Sentai shows, TAN is not the sole exclusive outlet for them

CR has Campione, Btoom,Cuticle Detective, Kamisama Dolls, Kids on the Slope and etc all of which are Sentai licensed shows

While that is certainly true for simulcasts (which all your examples were), TAN still seems to be the destination for library titles, which is what Code Geass would be if Sentai got it.

I can't think of any of Sentai's library titles that CR has gotten until well after TAN had them.

Code Geass on Daisuki maybe? Sunrise is one of their studio affiliates.

This. CR usually gets the simulcast rights to a show before Sentai licenses it, which is why they share a few titles. This season's Aku no Hana is a good example of this. But yeah Aniplex of America seems to be one of the few people to give CR any catalog titles, and it seems like they are switching to Daisuki now (I heard Monogatari 2 is getting streamed exclusively over there).

No Matter who gets it, I'll probably pick it up as I have heard only good things from it. Hell, when I have time to watch it I'll probably download it, and if I like it I'll buy it when it is licensed. But yeah, I wouldn't worry about popular shows like Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Haruhi (that is Bandai right?) and the like, but you should worry about their lesser know titles like Planetes, which I doubt will get licensed any time soon.

Given that it was featured in one of their pre-launch website mockups/prototypes, I would say that is very likely:

Of course, if (or when) it is licensed by either Funimation or Sentai, one can expect them to make it available for streaming also.
