I'm currently reading through higurashi... Got through the first arc (kidnapped by demons) and came to the understanding that the main character died... Then i come along to the second arc and the main character is alive and well again.... I don't know if i misread the manga or if it's part of the story... any help understanding would be much appreciated

Each arc is independant of one another exept through key events that happen every arc.

For example Satoshi 'transfering' as you have met that one.

There are other factors, but discovering them and figuring it out as you go is half of the fun.

Keep reading, it'll all make sense It's a brilliant series, I love how it's so confusing. Don't forget to read the notes at the end of the story by the mangaka, it helps a bit

As others have said, follow it through. One of the things I loved about Higurashi was piecing everything together and making sense of things.

Like others have said, the whole story will make sense as it goes on. Best thing to do is read it carefully, read the author's notes, and bear in mind that the story is a mystery, and, by the end, the mystery is explained. By the end of the second arc, you'll have a good idea of what kind of story this is. Just a tip: don't check too many outside sources for info before you read, else large parts of the story will be spoiled.
