You can block any spoilers by using the bbcode [spoiler ] [/spoiler ] (minus any spaces)
The first one goes before the spoiler area starts and the second one goes after the spoiler area ends

-------- When Eren comes back as a Titan, I felt that the entire mood of the series changed. Up until that point manga/anime, it felt as if ANYONE could die. and when Eren did 'die' it was like "wow, this series really is intense.' and then when the Titan showed up and started killing other titans, the intrigue was all the more interesting. But when it was revealed that it was Eren . . . I was disappointed. I know, I know, it's a shonen series, but I had grown so tired of the super-powered rage mode that is able to be called upon by the main character. It's been done in Naruto, Bleach, Dragon ball Z, and a host of other series. I'm not saying the Titan shifting is a bad thing per se, but what I am saying is that the Titan shifter could have been an entirely new character. Eren, as of now, isn't very gripping or crucial to the story, other than the fact that he is the main character. If he had stayed dead, it would have been a master stroke. It would have been shocking because he was the supposed main character, but not devastating because at that point we don't really know much about him. As the manga progressed, I was still drawn to it, but it seemed that Eren was the most uninteresting character (Levi is pretty much a cooler Eren, they both look exactly the same) Anyway, maybe I'm just hating because the series is so popular. I mean, it IS good. I read all of the manga chapters in one night. It's just that what started off so unique and challenging emotionally somewhat degraded into your standard manga fare. There are only 50 issues, so no doubt it will get better (Bleach actually JUST recently improved by a grand margin, so i'm willing to curtail my final judgement on Attack on Titan)

lmao i feel you bro,
dude first off I'm so wary of starting new mangas or animes these days because SO many of them screw up and become plain retarded.
So then attack on titans came along (my sister forced me to watch the first episode), and omg it was AMAZING---so much POTENTIAL.
then iin episode 3 he gets eaten , and i just freak out, because i was like please don't tell me they're messing it up.
so that night i read the all the manga chapters out, and its like you said, disappointment.

Spoilerr-------- You find out other people have the ability to turn into titans, that makes eren so much less special, then its SO OBVIOUS who the titans are, and lastly eren ALWAYS gets his ass kicked in titan mode, its just so sadistic. Anyways still reading on, sometimes they have this huge climax out of nowhere....so just hoping for that.

But yeah so far its like meh. In fact their latest chapter was so lame -.-

LOL i heard in bleach ichigo got a new sword or something? Like really?!?! how many times? its so cliche---plus i haventbeen reading /watching it ever since those 12 dudes...i forgot thier spanishy names el---something. It was so awesome, but they dragged it out and killed it.

Here's another new thing to learn--you can go back and edit posts you've made. Which means you can go back and add the spoiler tags to your original post now. Just look for the orange "Edit" link in your post and click it.

I have nothing on topic to say because I haven't read the manga. But I'm glad you've started a discussion topic for this in Manga. Maybe that will cut down a little on manga spoilers showing up in the anime discussion.

or not.

Yeah it just seems like the plot isn't going anywhere at this point. Like, I mean overall it IS moving... but chapter by chapter is so slow. Which is weird considering each chapter has 50 pages xD. I feel like Eren could have stayed dead. The shifter could have been a new character, and that alone would have made the series stand out

I agree. I felt that before Eren was revealed as the titan, the titans seemed a lot scarier. It felt like it actually went a little under the category "horror". Now they just seem like humans, but larger.

I recommend taking a look at the site forum rules:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-406095/crunchyroll-site-forum-rules
especially the parts of #9 under the spoiler tag, regarding double posting and long quotes. Avoiding that sort of thing makes the forum topics more readable.

Carry on!

To each their own I suppose.

I find the way the Titan-shifting is handled differently than that of other series, as you're not invincible in it, have to constantly focus on your objective else lose control of it, and it has yet to be pulled out to truly turn the tables on the titans its basically like tossing in a new tech for them to use. Even after titan shifting is revealed people still die so I don't get where you're coming up with the idea of it losing the 'anyone can die' atmosphere. One of the draws, for me, to this series is the fact that it maintains this atmosphere regardless of what new thing is introduced. Humanity shouldn't all of a sudden turn the tables just because of one guy that can titan shift, that would just be ridiculous.

Eren, imo, is handled well since he didn't just all of a sudden gain full control over his titan form but also isn't completely useless at using it either. He's just a normal guy using the 'gift/curse' he was given to go for revenge.

Just another person's opinion on it

I think I'm more towards the opinion of xCrimsonEX and arbitwah. I think it really depends on how everything is explained, especially the bit about Reiner and Bertholdt. I really am trying not to be too judgey or mean spirited about things that haven't been completely revealed yet, like the Titans in the walls or how the other Titan Shifters got their powers and why people are keeping what seems like important information from the public.

I also agree that the series hasn't entirely lost its "anyone can die at any time" air. That was something I really liked about this series, it kind of reminded me of something like Walking Dead. It's always interesting to watch or read something where no character is safe.

For all of the people complaining about Eren getting his ass kicked in Titan mode, he's fully shifted what like five times (the first time during the battle of Trost, the second time when he moves the boulder, fighting Annie in the forest, fighting Annie in the town, fighting Reiner - correct me if I've forgotten any - and the partial transformations: when he blocks the cannon and when he's with the Scouting Legion and picks up the spoon) that we know of so far in the manga, so of course he's not always going to have complete control over it like the other Titan Shifters do, who as far as we know might have been using their powers all of their lives. It would be stupid for humanity to all of a sudden be able to fight off the Titans and reclaim all of their lost land because one guy can turn into a Titan...and he pretty much doesn't really know what he's doing half the time. He's new to his powers and hasn't fully grasped them yet.

I for one still enjoy both the manga and the anime and look forward to what comes next...hopefully some information and explanations.
