just want to come back to clear something I think is happening with the Eldians. one obvious thing is that they are wearing armbands that kind of look like the star of david, the marleyans have an oppressive regime over them to the point they can cover up deaths of eldians for no reason. the covered - up eldian legend has a tale of one god, much like jews. really does seem like a nazi sort of between world wars kind of time frame, would fit some of the tech like the armour piercing rounds that have been around since our first world war.

I'm just thinking in AoT's case the true story is closer, not the same, as the eldian legends with the shifters carrying splits of one being (ymir) and using them has held back technology at that point, especially marleyans who have thought they are the best weapon for years

So, please correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but the fact Marley can't get a ship near Paradis means there are no new titans being produced, right? So, Paradis might now be titan-free?

Also, didn't think Isayama could amp up the whole 'casual offing of characters' shtick, but hey, Ymir got much off-screen.
Kudos.
I guess.

Yes Paradis is now Titan free. As of Chapter 90 Paradis has been cleared of Titans and the Eldians reached the border wall the Marleians used to create Pure Titans. In the 4 years since then Marley sent 30+ ships to the island and none returned presumably destroyed by the Attack and Collosol Titan.

As for Ymir... wow that left me depressed. Such an empty death

Cheers for clearing that up, a lot of the post-Basement stuff has me slightly confused.

Another thing I'm kinda fuzzy on is why Zeke (well, the Colossal and Armoured titans) attacked Paradis when he did. We're to understand that Reiss kept peace with the threat of unleashing the wall titans should there be an interference, but is it that Zeke's quasi-coordinate ability mitigated that threat enough as to warrant attacking the walled cities? Of course, Grisha was in the process of robbing the Reiss family of the power to mobilize the wall titans by taking the founding titan line away, so it's a moot point, but Zeke wasn't to know that, right? Like we know that the Marley mission was about getting the co-ordinate, but how was Zeke (and Marley) confident enough that they'd get the co-ordinate in time enough as to stave of the release of the wall titans, and, by extension, the end of the world via trampling?

Also, why would Marley antagonize Paradis by creating and unleashing pure titans on Paradis when the threat of the wall titans was enough to keep them from attacking the walls?

Apologies for the question-dump. Oh, and any takes on who's the 9th titan-shifter? I'm leaning toward it being a standard AoT anti-climax where another line was devoured into a current one off-screen. Which obviously means it's gonna be another shock-twist instead.

I'm not so sure if Marley did that just to antagonize Paradis farther. I think it was more of a punishment for Eldians on Marley, dooming them to be mindless titans roaming on Paradis forever (or for however long titans naturally live). That would keep any Eldians on Marley in line and scare them from breaking the law or planning to overthrow the Marley government. The fact that it kept the people on Paradis behind the walls even more fearful as well was just killing two birds with one stone for Marley I guess.

Hmmm, that would be an interesting way to reveal the 9th shifter. I think it would work too, because at this point is seems too late to introduced a whole new character to be the 9th shifter. It would be more suspenseful if they've been right under our nose this whole time. I wonder what kind of titan this 9th shifter is, like what kind of powers it has.

---

Also a thought occurred to me. since Eren has both the founding and attacking titan powers in him, I wonder if it's possible to separate the two. In this newest chapter, Zeke said, "if both (the colossal and female titans) had died, then babies with their powers should've been born, but no children have been discovered." I wonder if Eren dies naturally (instead of being eaten), if then the founding titan powers and the attacking titan powers will be "reborn" separately into two different babies? I honestly want that to happen because I don't think I could stand seeing poor Eren be eaten to pass on his powers after all this poor kid's been through

From the information we have it seems the Marley's colonialism policy was the driving force behind the invasion of the walls. In order to continue expanding they needed the resources that are rich in Paradis and the Founding Titan ability. As for ignoring the 145th King's threat they were simply calling his bluff. And yes... it was a complete bluff.
