I usually don't mind the main guy in harems, I just find it weird that there's always that one girl that tries to impress him by shaking her gigantic boobs. O.o There's almost always a "boob zoom in" in harems.

I like it for the most part but the guy almost never gets with the girl I like. Or they just leave you hanging. Or it's just like why don't they just go the true harem route and all be with him, like they mention in shuffle? But I also tend to root for the yuri route lol

I enjoy watching harem anime series.(I rarely get to watch reverse harems though...)

They're actually entertaining and there are some that I actually love. My concerns would usually be the plot(I might have seen something similar before, therefore I'm not interested in this one), too much fanservice(is it really necessary that there is a boobgrab/clothes changing/bath scene every episode?), female-on-male abuse(they go too far most of the time for something so simple that I feel bad for the guy), or how the interesting story becomes the typical harem anime midway(the main character was awesome at 1st and there's a reason for the girls liking him but he transforms into the usual idiot protagonist halfway through the series), and of course the characters being your usual cliche of a harem(I like tsunderes, yanderes and those usual characters but sometimes, the way the act and talk are the same with everyone else's harems and they play it up way too much like the usual tsundere mistress girl who treats and calls the main character a dog/servant). Worse offense most harems do that annoys me: the guy ends up with no one.

Some of the harem series I like are(listed from my fave to less fave): The World God only Knows, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Seto no Hanayome, Zero no Tsukaima.

I don't really mind them when they're done in good taste. There's way too many harems out there that totally degrade it's female cast and make the male leads disgusting and pathetic, but hey there's just as many somewhat entertaining ones out there. I'm not really fond of the female archetypes that frequent them myself, and I don't usually find the characters attractive so I don't generally watch them. But hey, they exist and I don't really mind them. I don't really know any women who do mind them, they usually just roll their eyes and move on haha.

Well even though i'm not a girl i feel like commenting, so here it goes.
I think harems can be fun at times, but not with those extremely clinging girls(like Sekirei). If the anime has those, i can already see what kind of path the anime will take.

I'm not a girl, but a majority of them are unoriginal and boring. Some can be funny or have interesting characters but as a whole the genre is pretty god damn stale to me.

It truly depends on their storyline, honestly. I prefer reverse harem than the normal one because I find the characters tend to be less pervy. It's not my favorite genre though.

Harem anime bug the hell out of me, theres only been one or two that I actually liked, one of them was "Shuffle!" I liked the remake of Negima a lot, even though Love Hina I couldn't stand (and I read the manga and watched the anime).

UtaPrince I love it simply for the principle, that guy is hilarious... and the art.

My first thought when I saw this topic was that it was my wife who introduced me to my first harem anime, Tenchi Moyo, and who watched (and chose) many of the ones we saw together. So while I cannot speak directly for my wife, it certainly doesn't seem like a genre she minds. I know she enjoyed Negima, kinda liked Shuffle and had a blast watching the reverse harem Oran Host Club.

For myself, I enjoy the genre, but do get tired of some of the tropes and common features of the genre. I hate it when the main character can't decide and the series ends with no one chosen. C'mon, lets have some resolution by the end of the series. The violence taken out on the main character in some of the animes for the slightest thing or misunderstanding makes me cringe at times as well. If the animation is done well, and it either makes me laugh, think, or cry, then I will probably like it. But then that goes for most genres of anime.
